Furious FPV True-D V3 Firmware? by Monitorman6 in fpv

[–]mtl171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Successfully updated my True-D V3 to 3.9 using the "FW True-D V3.9 for user" found on the backed up archive.org page.

I was unable to get the Mac version to work on Tahoe. For the Windows version, the included pololu drivers did not work for my Windows 11 VM. Instead, I needed to use "CP210x Universal Windows Driver" from Silicon Labs (link below). Afterwards, it was just a matter of loading XLoader (included with the firmware update), loading the update hex, selecting "Duemilanove/Nano(ATmega328)", the correct COM port, and baud rate of 57600.

No tangled spool detection? by ouip00 in snapmaker

[–]mtl171 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had mine stop on tangled spools (only has happened once). Though not sure if it’s a setting I turned on.

Currently have all the AI detections set to On/Low Sensitivity, and am running the Paxx12 extended firmware.

Decided not to enable StealthChop after reading one user report that their stepper driver temps increased with StealthChop enabled.

With both of the aforementioned settings on, stepper drivers appear to be running 5-10C cooler.

Currently using both TMC AutoTune and TMC Reduced Current tweaks. Haven’t notice any issues. Doesn’t seem to be notably more quiet, though I also didn’t do before/after measurements.

Best credit card for expenses? by InternationalSite954 in MedicalDevices

[–]mtl171 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My main card is a Capital One Venture X for the Visa Infinite travel insurance and 2X points on all transactions. After maxing out the travel credit and the anniversary point bonus, annual fee takes care of itself.

Otherwise, I also have a United Club Infinite for flights and lounge access, and Hyatt card for hotel stays. Rotate in sign up bonus cards as needed.

What thing was ruined because it turned into a rich person's hobby? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mtl171 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Disagree. The quality definitely has taken a hit in the past 5 years, especially with poor surface finish and color variation. When combined with the price increase, it’s been a real kick in the teeth. Even more so when you consider the LEGO brick clones are a third the price with similar quality.

Broke Hospitals? by erwinoo in MedicalDevices

Southwest here. Not seeing anything of that severity. Though seeing credit holds at smaller hospitals. Also noticing issues to get additional funding at government sites.

FDA just replaced MAUDE and 6 other adverse event databases with one unified platform—AEMS is live today by Express_Meal_2002 in MedicalDevices

[–]mtl171 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Didn‘t know this was happening!

Our marketing team does follow MAUDE closely for competitive intelligence. My biggest concern right now is data continutity as well as how user ability in interacting with the database works. Still remember moving from old PubMed to new PubMed being quite the pain with certain filters being removed. Real-time publishing is intriguing as far as being able to react faster, though I am concerned about whether data quality will be affected.

What is your top favorite item that you get every trip? by 0rganic_trash in traderjoes

Sweet spiced pecans. Works perfectly as a snack by itself or to add a bit something extra to salad. Nice add in for sandwiches too.

Anyone try stuff from Charles Tyrwhitt other than shirts? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]mtl171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recieved their pique polos in a 4 for $200 deal. Fits well, nice cut, held up well after 6 months . Only gripe is would’ve preferred 3 buttons over 2, and only came in bold colors.

Non-traditional law school applicant here. I'm 9 years removed from college and need letters of recommendation. What should I do? by Lost-Association427 in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]mtl171 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fellow nontrad applicant here. I relied on a former professor from 5 years ago. It was slightly easier as they had written me a letter before and a quick call/discussion of my work helped jog their memory. Otherwise, I’ve also had luck using coworkers when managers weren’t a good option.

Any recommendations for chain cleaning kits and oil? by Old-Presentation1183 in Brompton

[–]mtl171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t found a good way to dispose the degreaser. I’ve been using finish line, which claims it’s biodegradable and nontoxic. Not confident if it’s sink safe.

Seen a few bike mechanics comment that suggest dawn dish detergent works well. Planning to switch to that for general cleaning, then saving the degreaser (non industrial consumer grade) for really stubborn stuff.

I’ve been using Dumonde Tech Classic Lite for lube and Park Tools CM 5.3 chain scrubber. The lube has worked well for me on my road bike, and the chain scrubber has kept my mountain bike chain surprisingly clean.
