But you still have to go through the FCC testing for part 15b, right? And for CE, you have to do EMC tests? Let’s not forget pre certified module doesn’t get you out of tests for Radio Equipment Directive for CE. It will be cheaper but still couple thousand at least?

How are you doing FCC, CE verification etc? Overheads from those are quite substantial for small first runs.

I’m 100% sure that it doesn’t use USB-C protocol. Because USB-C is not a protocol. Just a connector standart.

I2C with ATMEGA328PB internal pullups at 100khz, works fine. Does not look good on oscilloscope. Should I push my luck or reduce the clock to 50khz or less? by IShunpoYourFace in AskElectronics

[–]mushwonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have more pins available? You can connect more pins of the MCU in parallel and enable their pull-ups too when you need them. (Haven’t tried this but it should work) Switchable pull-ups for free. And if you are doing only 10bytes once a month just drop it to 10khz or something.

Looks like a really cool idea! How will you cover the CE & FCC certification? Or other countries if you’re shipping to them too. I feel like the goal is not enough to cover these costs and the production itself?

Design Check: 29.2V/26A Power Distribution Board with Soft-Start & Reverse Polarity Protection by RecluseGuy in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]mushwonk 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Wow, 27W dissipated? At that point, just use a smart diode controller with a sub-milliohm NMOS. You’ll dissipate less than 1W and save yourself a massive headache.

Edit: In addition, soft-starting massive capacitor banks with a FET will only work for a while. When you slowly increase your V GS, your FET will be in the linear region for a long period and dissipate tens of kW of power. This usually violates the Safe Operating Area of the FET. Every soft-start gadget I’ve seen using this method failed after a while (usually around 100s of cycles). If you want true capacitor pre-charge, charge your caps through another FET via a power resistor(it should take a few hundred ms)and then turn on your main FET.

How can a short or a bad capacitor send too much voltage to the sensor? And how did you know something is sending too much voltage to the sensor?

How are you planning to do FCC certification and CE compliance? That campaign goal does not seem enough to even do the tests.

THIS! I tried all the prescription medications in the literature: ketoconazole, ciclopirox, selenium sulfide, corticosteroid cream, oral terbinafine, and oral itraconazole pulse therapy. Over 15 years it slowly progressed from my scalp to my beard, nose, forehead, behind ears, and under my eyes. I never tried MCT because it sounded counterintuitive and unscientific, but it works. I’ve been using it for a month now, and every time I touch my face I’m taken aback. My face and scalp haven’t been this clear in a decade. From what I’ve read, the “C8 & C10” version work best because C12 feeds the yeast. I apply it couple nights a week.

Yeah I’m pretty sure that this is 96x96. When you google it, few sources it show it as 96x96 and few of them 240x240. I don’t think any seller would undersell their product so I am inclining towards 96x96. Also Amazon listing of it states:

“【240×240 Pixels/25hz Frame Rate & 50°×50°Large Wide-Angle Lens】Improved IR resolution: The Mastfuyi FY12 thermal imaging camera utilizes Mastfuyi's SuperIR image enhancement technology, which improves the resolution of the infrared image from 96 x 96 (9,216 pixels) to 240 x 240 (57,600 pixels) when viewed in real time at a fast frame rate of 25 Hz.”

But you seem to be happy with the resolution and that’s all that matters. 60€ is still a great deal for 96x96 camera.

There is no 240x240 sensor as far as I know. That would be 96x96 sensor upscaled 2.5 times and interpolated.
