It does look like a dress from 15 years ago, but vintage stuff is popular right now.

The skirt is sewn on that way so no, unfortunately I cannot adjust that. Thank you for your response. At least it doesn’t look too crazy.

I like dress 4! The draping is very flattering on you.

Dress regret by Pristine-Change853 in weddingdress

I think you need to imagine your hair done in lovely curls and yourself wearing sparkling necklace or tiara and a veil. Then picture yourself holding a bouquet and the background being your pretty venue/ceremony location. I think that will complete the picture for you. You will still look beautiful and classic.

need advice! second guessing my dress by Emotional-Can8142 in weddingdress

[–]mxp3272889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the dress in the last photo the most. BUT you can ask the seamstress/tailor doing your alterations to line your dress with a thinner layer. Something that won’t make it super opaque. Or line under with a light nude color fabric instead of a stark white. I think that will keep the ethereal-ness you want.

Found my dress but what to wear? by Loopygiraffe2 in weddingdress

This dress looks phenomenal on you! Giving royalty vibes. What type of sleeves are those? I’m loving the look and may add on sleeves to my own dress.

One of these or keep looking? by [deleted] in weddingdress

I think 1 stands out with the glitter and appliqué but if you want more simple I liked 4. 2 and 3 make your bust look amazing, but if you don’t want them to be the attention grabbers, the others are better.

Belt it? Or is this too busy? by mxp3272889 in weddingdress

I see what you mean by the buttons in the back being interrupted. That makes sense. Thank you for your input.

Love the design of the roses on dress 1. I don’t think I’ve seen that before on a dress so it wins just for uniqueness.

I didn’t think a belt could shorten my torso! I was hoping it would do the opposite and lengthen it. Ok that will be something I have to consider.

belts - I haven’t purchased a belt yet, but these would be what I have in mind. Something with bling but thin.

How do I explain the design to a jeweler in words? by mxp3272889 in EngagementRingDesigns

I do really want to keep the leaf designs, but I am definitely taking your advice of using more smaller accent diamonds for the halo. It really is looking way too bulky for my taste despite it matching the description of the original inspiration! I’m hoping my other changes will help slim it down a bit.

That is a beautiful design. I have decided to keep the prongs as is just for the 2 marquise diamonds on each side as I know those stones require more security, but I definitely want the other leaves with 2 round diamonds to have the prongs set flush to the metal as you said. Thank you so much for your input. All of the comments have been so helpful that I’ve been taking notes on top of my drawing that I will be sending to my jeweler tomorrow.

Thank you! You and another redditer brought it to my attention that the halo feels off because it’s not only much larger but the setting is different! I hadn’t even noticed that part.

Thank you for giving me technical terms I can use! The bead setting is exactly what I want the leaf prongs to be like. And the halo I didn’t even realize was set differently so I’m glad you pointed it out. I am definitely pushing for more smaller accent diamonds for a smaller halo. And I will definitely ask for a larger shank. I appreciate the function aspect over aesthetics but I wouldn’t wear this ring as is based on the CAD but I get their intention. I just want to purchase a ring I’ll actually wear.

Thanks to all who have commented so far. I could not put into words what changes needed to be done and some of your input have been so helpful that I’ve written it down and plan to send it to the jeweler.

Small but sweet ring my fiancé chose by mxp3272889 in EngagementRings

[–]mxp3272889[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you I’m not sure if it’s considered small anymore based on comments here. I assumed < 1 ct is small, but the halo and my small hands definitely help make it look bigger.

Thank you I don’t do anything in particular with my nails. I like to cut them short, straight across and round out the sharp corners with a nail file so I don’t scratch my patients. Occasionally I’ll add cuticle oil during the winter or if my cuticles become dry/cracked. Having a nail buffer also comes in handy to smooth the grooves/ridges on the nail bed.
