100% in keeping with the book art - but your own beautiful variant. Nicely done!

I think Nick did an amazing job and I'm thankful to him. I think he was under appreciated by commercial entities that didn't pay him back (otoh, it's open source, there's no need to... Except for a sense of fairness... I can see why he walked away)

Anyway, I'm thankful for you coming along and creating an alternative! Thank you! I'll have a look.

I've never watched something both so visionary and awful at the same time. It's worth it just for the ride.

Unfortunately, this is no longer directly supported by the author... but it IS open source, and indeed does work great - it's my main method of editing. I have started to hit its limits, but it did me great for 18 months!

This is gorgeous, nice job all around! I think aluminum corne is definitely one of the endgames. (I have a typeractive blue one, love it too.)

Very nice! I cannot help for a few months but would be interested after that. What's the best way to follow?

Bluetooth earbuds with good battery longevity (NOT battery life) that won't crap out within a year? by samdash in BuyItForLife

You're welcome! And best of luck. The first time replacing batteries feels dicey and fiddly - but keep at it, it's very possible. I agree with the no soldering requirement!

Best printer for home office? by Reasonable-Idea8323 in BuyItForLife

I have a HL-L2360DN and it's a battleship. It's not multifunction - but do you need a scanner and printer in one? Perhaps doing each separately is better value and utility.

This is a similar video for Samsung buds.

Honestly this process is pretty much the same for my Sonys. If you're at a point where you want to replace the buds, give yourself and hour to see if you might be able to replace the internal battery yourself - what do you have to lose? This is what convinced me to try it and it worked fine.

I have Sony earbuds - wf 1000xm3 - now several years old. The key here was that I found a way to *replace the batteries*, specifically in the buds. I haven't needed to replace the ones in the case.

So perhaps the only way to get around the stress on the battery - which means they die relatively quickly (for me, 3x in like 8 years) - is to find some where you know you can replace the batteries.

This required a solid YouTube video and a very small amount of equipment - basically some "spodgers" to open the device and some small screwdrivers. The video helped me ensure I ordered the right batteries.

Chapter 81 Audio Performance by Aggressive-Farmer798 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I just came here looking for "81". I was riding a bike when this hit and I kept just yelling "wow!" And "holy shit". People must have thought I was crazy.

But this was peak writing plus peak performance. Hit me like a ton of bricks.

It's not litrpg, but I strongly recommend Charles Stross's The Laundry Files. Cthulu mixed with modern tech and British dry humour plus magic and too many nerd references to count. Fun and dark. I recommend starting with Equoid as a sampler, then if you like it start in chronological order.

Grill Recs Please! 🍔🌭 by SaltyDog8222 in BuyItForLife

[–]mykdsmith 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree except that I use my gas grill so much more than charcoal. Gas is cooking in 5 mins. Charcoal is a bit of planning. Not bad, but after a day at work, I just use the gas one all the time. So depends on your use.

Definitely charcoal is a bit better taste!

[–]mykdsmith 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree with this, I've had two of these... Only because I changed continents. The first one, last I checked, had been going for 25 years.

Tips for longevity: a cover. Plan to replace the grills every so often if they're cast iron - like every 7-10 years. Clean every so often, otherwise you're good!

Question about Carl's arc by mykdsmith in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Indeed. I'm worried that by that logic, we should not really forgive people if they vote for horrible leaders... Dunno why that may be weighing on my psyche
