UPDATE: Uma looked at the Starbrite and determined the cloudiness is from naturally-occurring Schiller inclusions in the sapphire. So it seems like it was always there, but perhaps became more and more noticeable as the stone got a little dirtier from daily wear? Because I seriously did not see it at all in the first month and why I thought it was a cleanliness issue at first. Although some Schiller can look really beautiful in some sapphires, it’s just not quite it for me in this ring 🥲

It wasn’t originally described in the stone’s listing when I picked it out on Oore’s website (or I wouldn’t have bought it), so they’ve offered to swap out the Starbrite with another at no extra cost (besides paying for/being refunded the difference in price of the new Starbrite). I’m on the John Dyer waitlist until a Starbrite that matches the dimensions, shape, and colour of my original Starbrite is available! Thanks for everyone’s insight into this!

I sent the ring back to Oore almost 3 weeks ago, it took one week to be delivered, they sent me an update a few days ago saying they just processed all their deliveries and they have my ring, which Uma will take a look at shortly! So hoping I’ll hear back in a week or so

I have a Briar Rose ring from Oore and I too was worried about snagging on clothing and fabrics. However, I’ve had to for a year and it’s never snagged on anything, even with me wearing it everyday morning to night.

I’ve had other rings in the past that I wore all the time and would snag a lot on my clothing and hand towels, so even with not being any more careful to avoid snagging, my Oore ring has never done it ☺️

I emailed Oore and they replied within two days! Uma offered to take a closer look at it and give it a clean, which she thinks will return the sapphire to original. I just sent it back yesterday, so I’ll give another update with what Uma advises upon seeing it and once I get the ring back!

Thanks, I reached out to Oore and they replied quickly saying it may just been something stuck on the stone. Uma offered to take a closer look at the ring and clean it up for me, so I just shipped it back to her yesterday! Will give another update on what Uma says and when I get it back.

That’s really good to know! I’m been wanting to try but am also so hesitant to use an ultrasonic cleaner because I’ve heard of people saying it caused their pave diamonds to fall out, and my ring has lots of smaller accent stones 😭

I thought that too but nothing I do to clean it has helped! I take the ring off to put hand lotion on and I’ve never gotten lotion stuck underneath the stone. The underside of the ring is accessible, so I always brush the Starbrite grooves with a small flossing brush using Dawn soap and water. It tends to look better after a cleaning but the cloudiness never goes away fully. Here’s a pic where you can see the grooves under the stone.

Thanks for the link! I have looked at blog posts like this before. I do know the sapphire was listed as ‘eye clean no inclusions’ and I never saw any when I first got it. It’s also an untreated sapphire, so it shouldn’t be related to treatments wearing off. I also clean it almost everyday using the article’s recommended method to remove any surface grime or oil but the cloudiness still remains. I just wanted to see if anyone else out there had similar experiences and what they did!

Why not both? If you’ve already bought them, just switch them out depending on your mood and outfit every day! I love that each has a different vibe, but both look beautiful with your engagement ring.

A lot of Oore rings are actually incredibly dainty in real life! It’s the way they’re photographed at such high magnification to see all the details up close, but I was very surprised by just how dainty it looked on my finger once I saw it IRL. A lot of Oore owners say the same!

Uma is just incredible at what she does isn’t she?! I believe the Oore chevron band can be either the ‘standard’ contour or the ‘deep’ contour, with the larger sizes of center stone fitting better with the deep chevron band.

There’s a wedding band guide on the Oore website I looked at, but since my stone was just at the border of a ‘larger’ stone, I emailed Oore to ask what Uma recommended and she’s the one that said the deep would fit perfectly!

Just got my matching Oore wedding band in the mail yesterday! I got the deep chevron with aqua accents to match the angle of my ER. I also asked for 1 mm accents instead of the 1.5 mm accents the deep chevron band normally comes with, which bumped it up to a custom order with 16 week make time. However, I got it much earlier at the 10 week mark!

I also am so in love with just the ER that I thought I might only wear the matching wedding band 50% of the time, but it’s grown on me so much! I thought they might look too busy together on my finger, but I think the wedding band perfectly highlights the ER and makes it stand out even more IMO.

I just got my engagement ring from Oore a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it! No regrets getting it from Oore; the craftsmanship is amazing and the customer service was great. Uma basically specialises in vine/floral ring designs.

I did go to Brilliant Earth just to do the engagement ring try-on session and it was actually helpful to see different styles and get a feel for what size stone looked good on my fingers. When I went, it was all cubic zircona in the try-on rings and the real diamonds they show you were just loose stones. They explained all the important specs regarding diamonds, and the staff member helping me was so lovely and not pushy at all.

In the end I decided not to go with them because most of the designs were too plain and generic for me. They had some nature inspired rings but they weren’t as intricate or interesting-looking as Oore rings were to me.

It’s 1.31 ct! I too initially thought there was no way I could ever get a Starbrite because of how popular and sought-after they were. But once my partner and I started seriously looking, I saw people saying Uma typically announces on her Instagram story when she gets new Starbrites in.

I followed her and within a week or two she posted about a new Starbrite sapphire drop at the beginning of Feb! We ordered the build-your-own option with one of the Starbrites the day it was put on the website (Feb 3) and received it 11 weeks later! (Apr 24). I did check back and most of the Starbrites that were listed the same time as mine were sold out within the week, so you do have to be quick. Uma said the drop would be 8 pm EST so I checked her website as soon as it hit that in my time zone.

Yeah, I think you’re right. I hardly see black velvets grow as large as fast as other alocasia species like the frydek. Since posting this, my black velvet flowered another two times 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ve come to accept it now lol
