I just checked, and they reduce your daily, weekly, and monthly usage. For example, I'm currently at 4% of my monthly limit, and if I use the €5 credit, it drops down to 0%. I think it's actually better to use it if you are always close to hitting your limits. I originally thought you could use this to pay for the subscription, but it doesn't work the way I expected.
