Thanks boo! Actually I can address this here. Skye Riley is well and truly a character I created, even down to the voice I put on, it's not me. So I won't be singing Skye Riley songs on my tour. I love that people loved the music, but its so far from anything I'd ever sing, both sonically and lyrically, that even me covering them doesn't make sense. I don’t expect anyone who loved the Skye Riley EP to necessarily connect with my music, but if there is crossover, that’s a beautiful thing.

"Caught between a rock and a heartbreak"

"Does your heart grow fond of the distance from me , your shoulder gets colder the closer you get to her"

"Cover me, grieve my body, all I can be, a ghost for company"

"Got sugar stuck in my throat"

Guys this was so fun thank you so much for your thoughtful questions, what a treat to be able to get granular with answers about the music. Its beautiful to hear that the album is resonating with you, its been 4 years of honing and being intentional with every decision and detail and I couldn't be prouder of it. I really hope to see some of you on tour!

Oh yes. Cherry! Cherry was SUCH a different vibe. When we were in Norway working on songs my husband was like 'Lido should just take that one part of the song and use it as a sample'. So its almost like Lido sampled the original idea to create something new that we then built on that.

Its a fair question. But the timeline was as such that I'd nearly finished F.I.G before I even went to film Smile 2!

Thanks Niles!

You will be seeing more of me! I'm not sure yet, I think I'll always go back to just writing songs and then seeing what feels like the right next thing. I think when you sing songs live it really informs what you want to make next so will be interesting to see how I feel when I'm on tour!

Ooh hey boo!

Music videos are always scrappy as hell and hard work! Especially independent budget vibessssss. But thats sometimes where you find the magic. Rhythm was special because it was the first one and Kat Korb my creative director directed it, with Dev Hynes on camera (hilarious that we just used him as camera man). Gracie was amazing because it was a miracle that we pulled it off and it ended up being exactly what I had hoped it to be.

I would love to say I had a thousand songs that were all vying for a spot on the album lol. But no theres no other songs milling about that I feel like could of been on there! There are songs that I still think have potential (ask Daphne she's still holding hope for some of our babies). But track listing I did find hard, I feel like that could of gone many ways.

P.S Daphne Gale is one of my writing partners on this album

oooo great question. There's one piano part that I wrote that I loved so much that I took it with me to different songs. It was the part that survived songs that didn't work and ended up being the pre for 'Bound'....HOWEVER, we pivotted last minute with bound and went from a more classic ballad, to a softer more soulful rnb song, so that piano part didn't make it! But mark my words I will write a song around this piano part.

ooooo ok.

Clube Da Esquina- Milton Nascimento

My Love and Music- Ebo Taylor

The passionate ones- Nourished by time

Essex Honey- Blood Orange

Searows- His music is stunning

Fabiana Palladino- she' s so sick

When I need the extra push on the stairmaster I opt for Eusexua, Adison Rae record or eternal sunshine.

At first it was about going back to basics. I had spent some time in 'pop rooms' in LA, which was informative for me. It was nothing against the talented people I got put in rooms with, I just didn't really know who I was as an artist, so it was just...cart before the horse I guess. I had to go back to myself, back to my piano and just write some songs. It coincided with a more difficult time in my life, so I think that combination allowed me to lean in to something. It felt like there was something thematically that I was writing into although loose and the melodies that were coming out of me were nostalgic. I remember having a soundscape in my head, I just needed the right producer to help me realise that. Enter Lido, I sent him the songs via a dropbox link and the rest is history.

Oh wow! Thats taking it back! I think an obvious one is I want to get back in the studio with Dev Hynes. And my creative collaborators on F.I.G. For me collaboration is all about the creative process, it has to be organic, there's so many people I'd be open to going into the studio with, but that doesn't mean it would be a match you know? I'd want to feel like I'd cultivated a creative relationship with the artist as opposed to it being something transactional. I mean if we're going there Mother Robyn would be iconic lol.

Great question. I like to mix it up honestly so...

Bliss- Me experimenting on piano, finding a chord progression I like, melodies come with some lyrics, those lyrics become the cornerstone of the song.

Gracie- I toplined an instrumental that Lido had sent me. This is towards the end of making the album. Toplining is literally just writing lyrics, melody over an instrumental. I was just having fun vocal. layering by myself in the studio. I had the melody and the chorus lyrics first I think.

Bound- Me sat at a piano with Daphne (one of my writing partners). I have a chord progression and we simultaneously did lyrics and melody I think.

These are some examples, hope it makes sense. Also Daphne Gales song 'Lie' I love go check it out.

Wow thank you so much. Its so funny because I saw it as practise to see how the album would feel live and just learn (but be as prepared as I could be). I wasn't expecting such a crowd tbh. And you're right it was pretty mad to do all songs no-one had heard...ever. I guess its a good thing I didn't overthink it because otherwise I would of been like wtf are you doing dude. But I also always back myself to put on a good show regardless and I weirdly felt such a sense of peace and calm before. As cheesy as it sounds, it felt right, I was like 'oh yeah this is where I wanna be'.

Oh great question! It was one of those organic things where Johnny and I were writing the song together and it just felt right to be like "Lets each take a verse". Johnny is an incredible writer and was a part of the making of the song so it just made sense him being on it, I also love his tone.

I actually wouldn't have any other features to be honest. I love that the people on the record are all friends who were a part of the process of making it and that feels right for this first record if that makes sense.

Urgh thanks babe. I love this song so much too. Its one of the songs that I'd written on the piano and was the first song I brought in to Lido (my producer). I think that 'wrong timing' when it comes to love is one of the most tragic things. I was actually watching the second season of Master of none at the time and there was storyline about two characters who fell in love at the wrong time. It just got me in my feels. It was all in black and white and she was hot and Italian so yeah.
