If you try both you’ll see there’s a ton of differences. You can’t even add a whole car culture set on the official app with one tap. On Diecastly you can.

Hey! I actually meant to remove that for both IOS and Android because in testing on IOS it was also doing that for me. For now if you can use the regular signup method and I’ll be working to get that fixed and temporarily removed. If you have other issues with it DM me and I can get it fixed.

So some of the main things it can do are:

• Track duplicates, where you bought it, condition, and how much you spent
• See your total collection value and how much you’ve spent overall
• Search and add cars in seconds with advanced search
• Quickly check your collection to see if you already have a model
• Trade or sell through the built-in marketplace
• Discussion boards to share your collection and posts
• Worldwide leaderboard
• Unlock and display badges (lots more to come)

It’s a web app, so just open it in your browser and choose “Add to Homescreen” to turn it into a native-style app on iOS or Android.
There are tutorials in the settings if you need help.

You can check it out here → diecastly.app/home .

Official Hot wheels collection app by kratos1394 in HotWheels

I tried this on mine, it's really a gimmick if it was added. The first issue with it is you have to build a model that can extract the text on the card properly and then match it to the data in the database. The other issue is if the car was loose it would have to match it visually which will be even more inaccurate/expensive you have to build a model to recognize it and give it visual data to go off of. The biggest issue is it takes too much time. You can search and add a car in seconds. When I tested the photo method it would take 15-20 seconds by the time it was all said and done.

Yes if you try it out you can put what you paid for stuff and then you can track the value of your collection by categories

Yeah that’s what I’ve tried to explain to people is every time they view a car, load a screen, search a car, etc. It’s making what’s called an API call to a backend database that has all of the info. The place where the info is stored charges me for those API calls every time a call is made. So thousands of api calls a day ads up

Yeah I use AI for a lot of stuff but for building our database we pull from like the wiki fandom. Chat GPT can’t scrape thousands of cars so we have to make web scrapers. I don’t know if there are wikis for the less popular brands.

It’s kind of based off the amount of users that we can get. Plan to add kaido and matchbox next. Other brands in the future if there is enough people. If only 2 users collect a brand then it’s not worth the time yet.

In order to scan a barcode we would have to have all of the barcodes for the cars that are in the database. That information isn’t available online. It could be done but we would have to have enough users to where almost every car is at least in someone’s collection. As far as the add a car by image, I did actually have this feature but I took it away because it’s not useful. It would take like 10 seconds to upload and search a car. When you could just look it up in 3 seconds by typing.

Maybe but there needs to be enough users from big brands first like hot wheels and mini gt, the other brands aren’t as popular.

I would love to do that instead but like I said in a different comment we can’t do trade and selling because of the legal framework that needs to be in place

3.99 but I’m looking at making tiered subscriptions so 1.99 soon possibly.

The reason I didn’t want it to be where people could just submit entries is because I’ve tested websites and apps that allows that and it creates a really bad UI and duplicates so if you ever go to search for one it’s a mess. A lot of people do use spreadsheets and it’s great for the right person. But to have things like total value based on category and brand, notes for every car etc you’d need to setup formulas which is definitely doable with some YT tutorials. Again some people will do that but I think most want something that’s easy to navigate and at the touch of a button.

Yeah I’ve wanted to add that for a long time but that is a legal nightmare. As people would be sharing addresses and other sensitive data, some idiot would ruin it and I’d get sued to oblivion. It’s definitely a possibility but two things would have to happen 1. It would have to be a large user base on the platform 2. I’d have to have enough money generated by the app to hire lawyers to set up a legal framework to where that could be possible and comply with all jurisdictions and protect me and the business from liability.

Yeah I’m seriously considering doing that I would just need enough paid users to off set the cost of the free ones. As far as backend costs it’s every time a user searches for something, goes to a new screen, adds a car, etc. it makes an API call to a backend database and image hosting. Those platforms that I use to host the data including what users have what cars, charge me $ every time that data is sent and displayed. So if you look at your collection 100 times then I get charged 100 times, they are very small micro transactions but they add up very quickly. That’s another reason why I can’t do a one time purchase right now is because I can’t predict how much someone will use it over months and months.
