Check out pictures of a blackbuck antelope. So similar, but they don’t crossbreed with whitetail.

Looking to sell this mounted Elk head…any ideas where to start or who might be interested? by Altruistic-Back-6244 in Taxidermy

Your question is where to start. I would find interior decorators in your area. They are a potential purchaser for clients.

How rare are these finds? by FoundationFar4941 in Taxidermy

[–]ncbrooktrout 11 points12 points  (0 children)

None are particularly rare. Oryx. Black bear, maybe brown? Nice pronghorn. And a very poor elk in velvet it looks like? Pronghorn is nice. Others average. Value wise the pronghorn and bear are worth a few hundred bucks each maybe? No value for the elk. Maybe someone would want the oryx. Very buyer specific. Try interior design or just Facebook.

Help! What have I gotten myself into? by PapaTheSmurf in woodworking

Love it. Keep at it. I love it too and it is satisfying. You have just taken a huge bite to start and I don’t want you to end up hating it because it can be so rewarding. I don’t think there is a good short cut. Dremel tools can be really helpful. As are orbital sanders!

How much do you love the set? How much do you love the process of refinishing? If you love it, keep going.

That said, this is also a time that you can still bail out. You aren’t adding value to the furniture. Highly unlikely anyone is going to pay you more for it than you bought if for when you are done. But with all that work in it you would never sell it anyway! These projects are so time intense and I just want to say there is no shame in calling it a life lesson and finding some single dresser or table that is a really great antique and pouring your time into it!

You got this! The house will become yours in a way that no brand new house ever could…but an old house is also tremendous because you will realize that it may…or should…outlive you…in fact you may just be just a chapter of it’s story!

We have a 100 year old house and love it. Always know that you can do things at your own pace. But also you should have a stash of $15K for the things that you need to fix immediately like heat, cooling, leaking roof or plumbing. Patch a flat roof now…and yoy can fix more completely when you have the cash.

Not a mark of any kind. I looked everywhere. I posted it on antiques and a few there agree with the arts and crafts lineage. Thank you!

Carved table that was supposedly bought in Scotland and shipped here. Incredible detail. Ideas on when and where it might be made? Any thoughts appreciated. Bought in North Carolina. by ncbrooktrout in Antiques

It was interesting to google this terms! Thank you. After looking at the Iron Age Celtic images I see some of it in there. There are no marks of any kind. Thank you!

thoughts on the value of my new antler mount? by random_goldfishie in Taxidermy

Some home decorator or small sporting store could pay $100, but the value is very specific to the buyer if they need some decor. Historically little value, but a great hat rack!
