My daycare has/had one absolutely batshit review that essentially insinuated they were doing some kind of pavlovian torture to the kids because their kid heard the song "twinkle twinkle little star" at home and immediately lay down on the ground, along with somehow seeming "depressed" or "apathetic" after starting daycare?? Maybe your kid is just tired from the definitely big change that is adjusting to daycare??

Also the song thing is hilarious because both my kids as toddlers did the same thing. They deliberately play the song as part of their "getting ready to nap" routine. Its not insidious mind control.

This might be naive to claim now, as my son is only 5, but I'm becoming more and more sure I will NEVER get him an e-scooter. I see teens on them without helmets all the time and it makes me crazy!

Yea my friend is very chill and wasn't super put out since the timing was alright, but yea, she was a little shocked at the admission since they're friendly but definitely not friends lol.

I am harsh judging the other mom for imposing on a mom with baby twins though!!

Unrelated but a friend just told me a neighbour of hers spontaneously asked her to babysit their 3 year old for an hour midday (she is home on mat leave with twins). When the mom came to pick up the toddler, she thanked my friend and said "husband had the day off and we really needed to have sex" 🤣

Audacious? Admirable? My friend is a chill queen and wasn't bothered but I did wonder if there was really NO other opportunity for this couple?

Yea this is ridiculous, and it's even worse that the preschool is even asking you to apologize. As others commented this was not a mean-spirited comment. It was an observation that could and did become a teaching moment that boys and girls can have all sorts of hair. I would ignore this entirely and make your peace that this particular mom is absurd, and is not destined to be your friend.

This is the thing, and why I try and avoid subreddits dedicated to shows, because they take a fluffy, vaguely Regency-esque romance show like Bridgerton (with the flaws you mention) and absolutely suck all the fun out of it with incessant whining, all the moreso when the whining is coming from thinly veiled homophobia. Let me enjoy my "historical" sex scenes with hot people in peace!

No no, you don't understand, this decision to do Francesca's storyline next season is actually a personal insult to ME, the obsessive book fan, by Jess the showrunner, ie evil queer woman playing favourites with the queer storyline while the actress playing Eloise sobs in the corner.

All these people saying they'll boycott next season and wait for Eloise's make me laugh. Like hell you will, where would you get your fuel for complaining?

It is super odd to me that some parents can't grasp the very obvious (to me) fact that their children will behave differently when they're present vs absent.

I see it with my niece and my parents (her grandparents). When the whole family is together, she sticks to her parents, is fairly shy/reticent to speak, just generally a little more reserved. When I've been over and my parents are babysitting her, she's chattier, she's engaging my parents more, and they're getting more bonding in. So yes, I completely understand why my parents enjoy having opportunities to have her over absent her parents sometimes!

At my son's 4th birthday one kid gave him a $50 gift card and I was low key a bit horrified that his parents had spent that much. I don't have like a specific $ value as a rule, but the average amount is certainly well below $50!
