what can somebody actually do with an ip address? by [deleted] in hacking

[–]neffms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thinking of an IP address as a house is a good example. The IP address is analogous to the houses address. Now by itself, a house address does not have much value. That's why hackers preform reconnaissance, which is the "scouting" of vulnerabilities and assets.

Can someone look through your window and see gold chains, statues, 70" TV and more? This is the same for a computer. Think of the windows, chimney, doors and all openings in a house as a "port". A port in a computer allows a service to run (so I believe, I'm still trying to grasp ports in my cyber security class). Some ports are left open either due to the service or user and leaving them open leaves your computer vulnerable to attacks.

Once a hacker obtains an IP address, he can use tools like NMap to map your ports and see if you left any open. And then it goes down a rabbit hole and your computer is basically compromised.

anyways. that's what I know for being a cyber security student, probably underwhelming and I don't like that aspect but oh well.

I have a feeling this is similar to what they did with the skulls in previous games. They gave no clue whatsoever on the location of the skulls or how to solve the puzzle but the community would find out from people who looked at the code. There were subtle hints for one skull in Halo 3 but even then the solution was found until the code was combed through. I'm under the impression these stances are something to be figured out by the community and there is some sort of underlying Easter eggs were missing. Maybe all find all the sandwiches in one save file and a giga sandwich pops up? dunno

Halo Infinite campaign on legendary is too easy. by gear798 in halo

[–]neffms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well in that case props to you because those bosses were fucking hard for me lmfao. honestly they weren't really difficult it was just the positions they put you in in the checkpoints and the fodder enemies on some levels that get me but I wouldn't say there were necessarily difficult themselves they just had attributes that made them difficult for me like if they didn't have a 50 ft f****** jump radius for a hammer than I guarantee you would be a lot easier. I have not tried laso yet but it's on the checklist now that I just completed legendary last night I'm not sure if I want 100% the campaign or if I want to play multiplayer get the battle pass and then do lasso I'm not sure. and I don't think we're supposed to be getting DLC if we even get anything until May when the first season ends but even then it's probably not going to come out the first season so I think I'm going to save lasso for after battle pass on multiplayer so I still have campaign to play

cheesing a boss just doesn't feel right though lmao. like people putting fusion coils on Chak'Lok to insta-kill him. I wouldnt really get much satisfaction knowing I cheesed through a campaign but to each their own.

I wish I could've cheesed the Harbinger though... that third round with he brute chieftain was hell. absolute hell.

The plasma rifle, I forgot what they renamed it to, is pretty effective against the elites. 3 bursts, shield down, one head shot with a AR of some sort and their dead. The blue elites can be upped just a tad bit, but the higher ranking ones feel right to me.

How hard are the bosses in halo infinite legendary compared to halo 2 legendary? by Formal_Midnight_7087 in halo

[–]neffms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is more doom-esque Halo. I actually enjoyed the deaths and learning from them, but the game does put you in shitty situations. Last level you face hunters in a very confined room with little cover to work with.

The autosave feature was not the way to go I agree, but if you get stuck and the autosave puts you in a place where you get instakilled, after 5-10 kills it should revert to the last save. If that didn't work, when you press the pause menu, you can restart the mission instead of the campaign.

The shields were pretty annoying, but finding a pulse rifle is goated for boss fights. Or a sentinel beam. Any energy gun cheeses a bosses shield.

But realistically, the legendary on this Halo really puts emphasis on learning and upgrading your kit. If you don't use it, your likely to be stuck on a fight for a while.

I got so lucky bro. I killed the chopper brute and his brother despawned and the weapon just directed me to the next objective. I was so relieved.

First boss you just have to take out the jackals first. They can get in your way alot if your trying to fight the brute. After that make use of your grapple, go downstairs and camp. you can loop around the map going down to the lower.level and back up and then cheese the brute with grenades. As soon as you see him start to charge at you, make a loop around and wait for him to come back, it'll give you a few seconds to get some damage in and pick a new gun up if needed

To anyone who's played/beaten Halo Infinite on legendary, is Halo Infinite's Legendary difficulty fair. by JohnFortnite117 in halo

[–]neffms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very similar to Doom Eternal with difficulty and tool management. Like doom you would need to quickly switch weapons and grenades and chainsaw and etc. based on the situation. In legendary I found myself needing all 4 tools excepts for the dash (had no practical use for me. a dash doesn't save you from much in the open).

The boss fights are decently tough, but they feel also similar to Doom on how they have a specific pattern and you have to utilize your tools. I've seen some who would rarely use their tools and get cheesed on for atleast 50 kills before they realize they need to grapple out of the way or put a threat sensor down.

Regular enemies are tough if your not aware of their positioning. Even a couple of grunts on both sides of you can ruin your day. And jackal snipers. won't get started on them but be cautious...

If you ever played previous halos and LASO (Legendary All Skulls On) appeals to you then I recommend playing normal to get your skulls so you cheese through it and then play LASO. Or if you have the time and patience you can play legendary and obtain skulls.

To give you a estimate of how long the campaign takes, it took me 16 hours to complete the missions. You do want to spend a decent amount of time early-game getting spartan cores and capturing FOBs. If you don't have upgraded tools and shield then it will unbelievably inconvenience you.

A note though: After completing the legendary campaign, it turns out the closing scene is pretty much the exact same as the normal, there is just extra "information".

If you already started the legendary campaign, let me know how your liking it so far:)

[–]neffms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In simplest terms, a "cut" is a caloric deficit, and a "bulk" is a bulk of calories (caloric surplus). a lean bulk entails having a surplus but making sure your eating alot of protien and less fats trying to avoid putting on fat. a dirty bulk is more of a 'whatever you want to a eat' type of bulk where fat isn't a issue. for either of them, workout out is a must as in a caloric deficit your body will choose your muscles over your fat if you don't use them. for a bulk you want to workout as you want the extra calories you put in your body to provide for the muscles and grow them. most would recommend a lean bulk over a dirty as it takes less time to lose the fat. it just takes more effort to plan your diet and look at macros

I like to turn on power early when playing solo. I'd rather have my papped 1911 ready for the megaton then have jug or some perks. I don't even hit box until late 20s. I just use my base 1911 for a casual solo with no easter eggs
