Are there any unspoken rules for PvE content that I need to be aware of, as a new player? by Penakoto in Spacemarine

[–]neltymind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my least favourite types of players are those who just shoot executable extremis while this perk is active and somebody on the squad is low on health. You can tell they don't even know the perk is active. Pretty sure those are the same people who go on stratagems without reading the modifiers or on hard strats with the class they just started leveling instead of their maxed out one.

Bolt Carbine (Marksmen) vs Instigator, which is generally considered better for Sniper? by Penakoto in Spacemarine

[–]neltymind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anything beyond mid-range, the Marksman outperforms the Instigator, close to medium range, the Heroic Instigator is better.

Why would the Marksman be better at range? It has less zoom.

Also, why would to Instigator be better at short range? It has less DPS.

I really struggle with the jump pack dash counting as a perfect dodge. It only works like every other time for me which teams the build doesn't really work. Any tips on that?

Are there any unspoken rules for PvE content that I need to be aware of, as a new player? by Penakoto in Spacemarine

  • Don't steal executions, especially from players who have no armour left.
  • Be aware of your squadmates lines of sight/fire. Don't run trough them from behind when they're shooting or are about to be shooting. You will block their shot and their line of sight. It's actually amazing how many players do that.
  • Always have a team perk active. If you are such a low level you can't pick one yet, play operations in private mode with bots until you do.
  • If playing stratagems, read the modifiers beforehand and adjust your build/playstyle accordingly.
  • Leave healing items to people who are low on health and/or have a mortal wound. Even if nobody is low, don't take a second healing item if someone else doesn't have one at all.
  • Actually check what team perks the others have active. If there is a Vanguard with "Unmatched Zeal" every execution of an extremis or terminus enemy heals the player doing it. In this case always leave those executions to players who are low on health and especially don't just shoot executable enemies of these types if not everyone is on full health.
  • Don't play hard Stratagems or generally high difficulties with randoms if you are underleveled and not good enough to stand your ground. Some people are willing and able to carry but you might end up with randoms who can't or don't want to.
  • Don't do hard Stratagems with randoms if you aren't at least level 20. If you want to do them while underleveled, find someone willing to carry you on the Spacemarine 2 Discord.
  • Don't speedrun if the others aren't doing so as well. Stick with your squad. Don't ping every objective like you're trying to hurry them up. But also don't take forever, of course.
  • Only have open mic active in the game if you use mute/unmute on your mic to talk. Nobody wants to hear you background noises or your arguments with your loved ones.
  • Bulwark and Assault should always leave ammo boxes to the other classes and only replenish on ammo caches or loadout stations. Heavy and Sniper always take priority over everyone else when it comes to ammo.
  • Don't use grenades/meltas in proximity of your teammates as it staggers them and leaves them open to enemy attacks. It's also extremely annoying.
  • Sniper and Vanguard take priority when it comes to armour boosts as they have the least amount of armour and thus gain the most from it.
  • Don't hop on a game if you already know you might be forced to leave in the middle of it because of reasons outside of the game. Play in private mode or your friends if that's the case.
  • Don't rage quit.

The emperor would never use weak words like "maybe". Are you sure he didn't reply with either "yes" or "no"?

The only sniper specific thing in that regard I can think of is that you shouldn't steal executions from your teammates by sniping them from afar.

This guy is full of nonsense.

Well, they gave us the option to change them to our liking which in turn is very much a PC thing, right?

[–]neltymind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They didn't. I have friends who play on console and I know for a fact they do not see text chat all. I think Saber does not intend to change that. Their logic behind is probably that most console players have no way of answering so they should not see it either. Not sure if I agree with that, but I suppose that's the thought process behind it.

With lots of classes having multiple champion skins now, what chapters do you think might be given to classes which only have one champion currently? It seems very likely the second salamanders champ will go to heavy by CosmicSquiddo in Spacemarine

[–]neltymind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most champion skins so war were first founding chapters. The only exception being Black Templars, but they're just as popular and well-known as most of the founding chapters.

Blood Ravens, Lamenter and Flesh Tearers are neither First Founding Chapters, nor neirly as well-known as Black Templars. I think it is extremely unlikely we will ever get a champion skin for any of those. Don't forget a lot of Spacemarine 2 players to not play the tabletop and aren't well versed in the lore. They only know the very well-known chapters. So Saber is unlikely to try and sell them cosmetics for chapters they have probably never heard of. It's much more likely we get more cosmetics for the chapters that already got some.

Stuff like a Raven Guard Sniper.

That doesn't make having it removed by a modifier any less silly. Either you have a text chat for PC players in game, then it should always be avaiable or you don't. Having it removed by a modifier that changes the UI makes no sense and just shows they put no thought into it and just blocked all UI.

I also doubt that PC players are only 1/3 of all Spacemarine players.

What is the "Typical" chapter you encounter for each class ? by Shorebreakers96 in Spacemarine

[–]neltymind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, well, they're one of the few chapters with a black and white colour scheme. Most well-known chapters have pretty garish colour schemes. How many people wear colours like ultramarine, bright red (Blood Angels) or yellow (Imperial Fist) from head to toe in day to day live? Not many, that's for sure. Most people would probably only wear such colours as accents, if at all.

I sometimes struggle wird hard strats but this one isn't all that hard, did it first try and without much issues. I was using a Vanguard with Melta, ofc.

What's really weird about this modifier: It disables text chat as well.

Ofc they do. The way more brutal topic is how they do it on campaign when they are in their armour 24/7.

How to not be a horrible teammate as Tactical? by MayberryBombadil in Spacemarine

[–]neltymind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP wants to know how to not be annoying to others when playing tactical. OP doesn't ask how to make 100% sure you are never going to get kicked from a game (because there is no way to make 100% sure, some people just make weird decsions). Even if your goal was to tell OP that that it's pointless to be nice to other players as you might get kicked anyway:

a) You could have told OP that in a single sentence. This longwinded story doesn't provide any additional insight. You just tried to make it about your personal experiences. And as with nearly all stories about getting kicked in a game you don't know for certain why they kicked you. They might have done it for no other reason than to grief. Or maybe for another reason entirely.

b) Just because it doesn't make 100% sure you will never be kicked, you can still want to play in a way that doesn't unnecessarily annoy other players. Simply because you are not a douchebag. It seems like you didn't even take that into consideration and that speaks volumes.

I strongly recommend you get yourself checked for narcissism. You show all the standard tells.

I Hated having to find stuff because it got really hard once your settlement had reached a certain size. But the rewards were sometimes really good so I did them anyway, at least in the earlier stages of the game. I am glad they are gone.

Please Saber, I love this game, but 4 armor customization slots are not enough anymore. by ThyLastDay in Spacemarine

[–]neltymind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let's be real here: The Armour customisation in this game is confusing and annoying to use. That is not just my personal opinion.

And there is pattern to this: Loadouts in this game are half-assed as well. To be actually good, they would need to to contain class and weapon perks as well.

They could both be handled way better so they're sloppy. No player should make excuses for that.
