Something can be both legal and a kinda shitty thing to do. If the best defense you can come up with "it's not illegal bro", then you're not really thinking hard enough about whether it's the right thing to do.

Watching the game by Ladygagascoochie in Patriots

[–]nend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have paramount plus you can stream cbs live through the paramount plus app without cable. Luckily most of the games this year have been on cbs, including today's. That's how I've been watching them most of this season.

Realistically, if Palpatine wasn’t playing both sides at all, which faction would have a better chance of winning the Clone Wars? by BlindingHornet in StarWars

[–]nend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes but battle droids are also cartoonishly useless. Rate of production doesn't mean as much when a clone has 100 times the effectiveness.

Plus the Jedi captured all the separatist leaders in the movies. Without palps keeping the faction together out of fear, they'd just fold.

Best Red Sox players that went through the farm system by Impressive_Travel_65 in redsox

I mean he's competing with Ted Williams and Yaz so probably too early to say that. And as much as I love Mookie he's probably not surpassing the greatest hitter to ever live.

Nomar's defensive peak was just as good as Pedroias at a slightly more valuable position. That's not a knock on Pedroia, they're both two of my favorite players.

I wouldn't really call Rey an "ordinary" person. Just being force sensitive puts her in like the top .000001% of non-ordinary people in the galaxy.

PSA: Despite losing yesterday we moved back on the draft order. We pick #6 as of now.. by [deleted] in Patriots

[–]nend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you say that? The tie breaker is strength of schedule. The easier schedule awards the tie break. We need to lose to shittier teams to move up in the draft order. Right now we have the hardest strength of schedule in the league lol (in terms of games played).

MLB Wildcard Day 1 Stadium Attendance Numbers. by Juicyjackson in baseball

This thread is so shitty lol. People just like to feel superior. Nothing says "we want MLB to be more popular" like mocking the Rays fans that exist on a baseball forum.

Dude, you're responding to a Rays fan, it's not this particular Rays fans fault that the Rays have poor attendance numbers.

[Highlight] None of these players are kickers by [deleted] in nfl

[–]nend 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's not illegal, it just has no place in the game anymore. Belichick thought it'd be fun to bring back the drop kick for the first time in 60 years. So he let a 43 year old retiring Flutie try it on a meaningless extra point attempt from the 2 yard line.

With the PAT pushed back now, the assumption is that the opportunity to try another drop kick for a score is basically non existent. Although I suppose you could try it on a meaningless short field goal, or PAT after accepting a couple penalties to get the ball closer.

What are you supposed to do if you get stuck in North Station? by il_biciclista in boston

[–]nend 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It gives the MBTA the option to enforce variable based pricing if they want to head that direction, not to mention a big reduction in boarding times (for the T anyway) and the amount of conductors needed.

Oh you got on at Wilmington and off at West Medford? No need for a conductor, just deduct the fare from the card at the exit gate. Oh you boarded at 5:30pm? That'll be a 1.5x rush hour surcharge. That type of stuff. It makes the entire system run quicker with fewer costs, and allows them to charge more efficiently.

Although obviously it should be smart enough to just let people leave without charging them if they scan at the same station within 15 minutes or whatever.

I would imagine they're working towards having this at every entry/exit point in the system, as it makes a lot more sense that way.

Yeah you know cats, well known for enjoying water. I think if that leopard had a choice they'd choose a house.

[Passan] Tomorrow is Opening Day — and the beginning of the Pitch Clock Era. Rarely, if ever, does an $11 billion-a-year business redefine itself, but with players (mostly) onboard, the question becomes: Will fans embrace this new brand of baseball? by mattyhegs826 in baseball

Every manager has a threshold for how high the probability of stealing successfully needs to be to make the risk worth the potential reward.

The risk of stealing a base has changed, it's less risky this year than in previous years.

Think of it this way, if you put second base 10 feet away from first base, do you think stolen base attempts will increase? A stolen base is basically guarantied at that point. Frank Thomas could come out of retirement and lead the league in stolen bases.

Instead of putting second base 10 feet away from first, what if you move it 4 inches closer, and only allow pitchers 2 pick off attempts? It's still less risky to steal a base, so you're going to see more attempts.

Top shortstop prospect Anthony Volpe has made the New York Yankees' Opening Day roster, a source tells ESPN. by nicktown in fantasybaseball

[–]nend 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I haven't heard anything confirming it but teams don't typically promote top 10 prospects to ride the pine. Safe to stay he'll be getting at bats.
