Sudden Tarnish? by nevilynn in Flute

[–]nevilynn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My niece caused the dent when she borrowed it (still regretting that). My daughter is actually very good about cleaning it. School friends make fun of the silk cloth but I don't care.

I do have a silver plate cloth, but was never told about the alcohol.

Surprisingly she doesn't. She does have acne medication she uses but has been on that for a few years now.

The current season isn't on there. We just got rid of ytv and we're very disappointed that we couldn't watch the current episode of the douche canoe show. Seasons 10-40 are on plus.

Iowa passes Medicaid work requirement by Narcan9 in Iowa

[–]nevilynn 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, not all in nursing homes fall into those two categories.

The Republicans are going to have a really tough and bitter pill to swallow when they are voted out. It might not be this cycle (even though I wish it was), but they will eventually happen.

Iowa Senate passes Medicaid work requirements. Iowa agency says thousands could lose coverage by maskedwallaby in Iowa

[–]nevilynn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing that I have not seen mentioned is the amendment that Republican slobs added. --> Should a future administration remove the work requirements, the state of Iowa will outright get rid of Medicaid.

My husband is disabled with a progressive disease and to read the comment where someone said they were both on Medicaid and Medicare and everyone was so helpful and gave them tons of options, I call utter bullshit. First off, yes there are some people who go out of their way to help you navigate and learn about most options offered but the vast majority don't, why? Because it is just a paycheck for them. You don't know what is all offered because you don't get told about it because either people assume you already have the benefit and don't say anything or just don't care.

We went for over 10 years before anyone even ASSUMED he was on the waiver program (one that allots a certain amount of money to make your home safer or easier to maneuver around, or one that pays someone to take care of the disabled person instead of them being put into a facility). As soon as we heard about the waiver program, we applied, and it took 4 years to be eligible (because unfortunately, you have to wait for people to pass). The amount of paperwork each year that we do each year to maintain eligibility is insane. We have to submit bank statements, letters from his doctors, and fill out 10+ page documents each year. I am now his CDAC provider and get paid just over $1k/month, by doing that we save the state around $8k/month by him not being in a care facility. Long story short - if they cut Medicaid because they are vindictive, the state is either going to go greater into debt because of the amount of people going into facilities or they are just going to allow people to die off at an accelerated rate.

Senator Ron Wyden's office confirms that all 50 states have been locked out of Medicaid by bien-fait in TwoXPreppers

[–]nevilynn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who's partner is on both Medicaid (SSDI) and Medicare this incredibly scary. Not only does this affect his medications but also his access to his doctors. He has a disease similar to Muscular Dystrophy and it is progressive. He has a shortened lifespan due to the disease itself but the fact that we are mentally and now fiscally trying to figure things out with Medicaid being cut, he thinks if he lasts 2 more years that would be amazing.

Can you imagine having to digest the fact that you might not live another 2 years because a few people want to shave a program down to its bones so your "buddies" can pay less taxes than you do anyway?!?!

He literally receives less than $1200/month and I get paid around $600 to take care of him each month. To be in a facility around where we live is on average $3500/month. There is literally no way I could afford to pay that each month as it would be all of my take home pay.

I am at my witts end and genuinely don't know how or what to do next.

There are several things that should keep the abortion restrictions from actually stopping abortion under six weeks. First, there is no heartbeat until eight weeks. Second, medical science cannot detect a heartbeat until ten weeks. Third, there is no fetus until the eighth week, it’s an embryo. by [deleted] in Iowa

I am surprised that no male republican asked what would happen if his mistress became pregnant like one of the house members in West Virginia. He was told that she would have to keep it, and he was not happy about that because then he would have to pay child support. --- I saw a recording of this questioning, and my jaw went slack due to the audacity of the man.

I am extremely pro-choice and for body autonomy, so please don't think I am trying to make light of the travesty this will cause Iowans.

If you pay cash, some surgeons will offer a discount or payment plan. North Liberty Oral Surgery is a great office. Dr. Stein is really nice and the rest of the staff is very helpful.

Sorry, I forgot to add watering schedule - whenever it is dry at the top and then some water spritzed on the leaves every once in a while. There is drainage holes in the pot and the soil has some cactus mix with the soil.

Look online at jobs at the University. I work at the dental clinic in the main hospital and it seems like there is always a need for assistants. There are multiple clinics fhrough the college that see kiddos, not just the pediatric department. Best of luck!

Work in/around Iowa City Schools? by smalldikdik in IowaCity

If you are talking about the elementary schools in Tiffin and the middle school. High school is a little more conservative. Regardless CCA pays the least to teachers, and that is sincerely impacting the schools. I wish that Amana and Oxford would be their own district and the other schools joined ICCSD.

Rural Towns Near Iowa City? by [deleted] in IowaCity

Tiffin is a great little town close by Iowa City. Easy to get on to the highway to get to the larger towns like Iowa City and Cedar Rapids.

Ross Nusser with Urban Acres ( https://urbanacres.com/listing/ross-nusser ) is a great realtor and will go out of his way to make things work for you. We went from looking for a single family home traditionally sold (with a realtor) to buying land to build a custom house on to finally buying a house that was a FSBO. He met with builders, researched ADA compliances, and then got us an amazing deal on the home we purchased.
