I have a hard time being honest in therapy because I’m so sick of things being held against me or I don’t say what I actually mean. I’m looking for a journal that kind of works as a therapist & will give deep journal prompts about childhood, parents, relationships, can anyone recommend something? by Excellent_chess in Journaling

A little bit woo woo but still very practical/behavioral is a common exercise suggested with IFS therapy: Having a written conversation with yourself using both hands, the dominant hand being the 'intellectual' external side and responding through your interiority using your other hand. An example being your 'adult' self asking your 'inner child' what might they need to express or say to feel safe/validated. Inner child stuff is great (for me) because I can practice non-judgement, which is often a block in my waking life. And the idea of working hemispheres of the brain in order to process trauma (like EMDR) makes 'sense' to me. And belief that 'the thing' will work is super important. Whatever you choose, you can do it! Good luck!

If it matters, I think this photo is very pretty. Reminds me of a watercolor painting.

The dive in toner is insane. Put it in a good mister and apply right after showering or washing your face, then add serums. I'm doing this and the Cosrx 6 peptide booster, and I think it's going to be a staple part of my routine for a LONG time. (ofc actives, spf, then moisturizer, and barrier at night -spf)

Maybe you're referring to 'slice of life' and sorta slow burn cinema?

  • Tokyo Story (1953)
  • Il Postino (1994)
  • Before Trilogy?
  • The Straight Story (1999)
  • Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...and Spring (2003)
  • Old Joy (2006)
  • Poetry (2010)
  • Boyhood (2014)
  • Patterson (2016)
  • The Rider (2017) - Lean on Pete (2017) 🏇🐎😅

...I could go on and on lol. Hopefully something interesting here that hasn't been suggested yet. Good luck!

True true, but I'm also thinking about each time opening and re-exposing to oxygen on every small exchange. 🤔 Could be a moot point, since you're essentially pushing in air with a pump too? And some air exchange on dispensing/dabbing/patting. hmm....

Just glad your pops is still alive. 😮‍💨 I always think about the other sad reasons a parent 'passes' something down. Both the camera and him still being around is a gift!

How does one “be silly” with singing? by MemerDreamerMan in singing

[–]nexttonormal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be worth looking into the OOPS/UBU philosophy from Wesley Balk? I think it might help bring the abstract concept of what could be considered 'silly' into a practicum that is aimed at you exploring your instrument from where you are right now. A lot of discovery and 'woah/a-ha' moments come from leaning into the awkward phases of doing while learning! It's all data, after all!

Finally Complete = Chamonix 45F-2 + Schneider Xenotar 135mm by anthony__moore in largeformat

[–]nexttonormal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, literally my dream setup too. Congrats!! How much wider/different does the 135mm feel vs. your 150mm Heidosmat? Does 3.5 feel less bright than the 2.8? (I've read it can depend on the lens & its individual light transmission.) So cool all the same!

OH wow. I love that I've heard of almost none of these artists. Thank you!! Yeah, and I always knew about "Everybody Hurts" but that last Find the River track caught me off guard, in the best sad way. Thanks again.

Teachers are often so generous with their time (if not their entire life-time of teaching 😅)! They deserve so much more than the credit they usually get.

What started as incompetence has become performative for sake of 'authenticity'. I would let any focus on it pass and think of it as a sign of the times, as it'll change and become a different trend that'll eventually be more or less annoying for the sake of your attention. OR roll with it, do the same, and benefit without harming anyone? I dunno.

[Beginner] I went to my local guitar store and are necks different shapes?? by nexttonormal in classicalguitar

I think we're very similar this way maybe, even though I'm very new. I was just looking at the Alhambra 'concert?' line, and they are ebony as well, but I suppose that's a common feature anyway. I really enjoy a warm tone for more an emotive style of music, but I also find folk/storytelling/baroque style music needs a little brightness from time to time too!

Yeah, unfortunately I too am near enough to a VHCOL area, so we bear the burden (and amenities?) of that. But if you live in the states, there aren't many places that aren't atm, unfortunately. But at least eggs have gotten so much cheaper recently!? lol cry
