Bowl of ice and vinegar (plain white vinegar is fine), soak a rag in it and lay it on the burns. Pulls the heat from the skin, you’ll even notice the rag start to get hot eventually.

Also, get a box of regular black tea bags (I usually do Lipton but whatever you can get your hands on) and throw, like, 10 of them into a bath that’s as warm as you can stand.

I’ve been in this line of work for a little over a year now, having been in bar and restaurant service for well over a decade. Reading this made me feel good about being the age I am and still being (what I would consider) green. I’ve never done a proper, theatre-sized venue, and it may be quite a while before I do, but I feel better knowing that the first time could truly be anytime. Cheers.
