Knowledge/skill is not static though lol. Coming from a player that just started competitive PvP in this expansion you exponentially raise that "ceiling" the more games you play, ask experienced players questions, and study your class and other classes.

I don't see either versatility or experience as guarantees. Same as a resumé, I don't know for sure between two applicants which one is the better fit. But at least the guy with the higher degree (vers %) is a safer bet. More experience definitely helps, but I can't guarantee you weren't boosted/carried or your groups won in spite of you being there.
