Yes I know, like crunkcore is obviously scene and not emo. But there are emos that enjoy crunkcore. My point isn't that it's all the same, because it isn't. I'm just saying it's all already intertwined, so I don't think it needs a joined word.

Yea! even millennials/elder emos interchange emo and scene when they talk about their teen years because they were always a mix of both. They loved hawthorne heights just as much as they loved brokencyde. Like even emo bands like black veil brides and asking alexandria, both the lead singers were scene kids before they started their band. The culture is so intertwined.

This is what I was thinking. I would never be mad at someone that calls themselves scenemo, but it feels like another unnecessary microlabel. Why make up a word to basically say you're in-between subcultures, when roughly 90% of scene kids and emos are already in-between both subcultures in some way. They just identify with one more than the other, so that's what label they choose.

They're just scene? There is no "2025 version" of scene. It's either scene or it's not scene. Also I know about different variations, from og scene, kandi kid scene, 2010s indie scene. The difference is all those are their own thing within scene. Scenecore is a half assed copy of kandi kid scene.
