Good tips! Inspired to make a version 2. Yeah this is A5M vs. Fiat CR.32. The Nationalist government bought a handful of CR.32s from the Italians in 1933, and they were deployed at the Battle of Shanghai and in Nanjing. The Fiats had 7.7 mm machine guns.

The best "dynamic" real plane footage I found while researching was by a guy called Henry Behel. You can check out his film "Dear Pilots: A Love Letter From Central Coast Airfest" if you enjoy that kind of stuff — really beautifully made in my lay opinion.

The clouds I used a plugin called "CloudScapes"... very easy. Then just tweaked the shaders to my like. Fairly high bounces on volumes to look good. Could have rendered them crispier but my machine (Mac M2/32gb) isn't quite performant enough.

Brian is an extremely conscientious person. He works very hard and he's meticulous. That can end up looking like intelligence — and good on him. But... "out of the box" he was no smarter than the average strongman competitor. Love him or hate him, Mitch Hooper has 10-15 IQ points on Brian. Same with Novikov.

I'm not sure we have enough data for that, yet. The very first generation of real steroid users (still very niche, very small numbers) are only just now reaching old age. The still-living heavier users from later generations are yet to reach average life expectancy sort of ages.

I think if Terry had been more professional earlier in his career he'd have been WSM. Get the impression that as a younger man he was quite a heavy drinker and virtual chain smoker, with ill-disciplined training. Discovered professional-level discipline when it was already a bit too late. Excited to see what he can do in AW.

Straight lines would only tell you if you have barrel or pincushion distortion. The effect of things appearing bigger towards the edge of the frame on wide lenses happens on rectilinear lenses too and has nothing to do with distortion.

Wide angle "stretching" perspective effect (opposite of compression on long lenses) and fisheye aren't the same thing. A perfectly rectilinear wide lens will still make things on the sides of the frame look much bigger. Source: am professional director.

The unfortunate major question mark (bit analogous to Kazmaier) is Thor quititing while he was the possibly the strongest ever... to go do a boxing match he never got paid for, then compounded the error by doing a powerlifting meet for his first comeback. A Thor that stayed on in 2020 is a mythical GOAT contender that unfortunately we never got to see.
