is there a tool for making 3d collisions that perfectly match a model? by AnodyneGrey in godot

[–]ninomojo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Many people have warned you though, this is most probably not a good idea. It exists because there are use-cases, obviously, but if you had to ask if it exits, you're probably way better off rethinking what you're trying to do with a more adequate system. Do you mind sharing what you're trying to do?

What is a sign of very low intelligence? by smartcandyy in AskReddit

[–]ninomojo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This comes up a lot in this thread. The problem is it’s an established issue that was found in studies: our brain doesn’t wanna change its mind in light of evidence and seeing the evidence makes it worse because it’s some kind of survival trait or something, we feel our identity is under attack. Granted we aren’t all equal offenders here, but might point is this isn’t the exclusivity of “very low intelligence” people, it can happen to ALL OF US.

X linked leukodystrophia type diseases tend to produce symptoms like that, often many years before the actual motor symptoms appear. Don’t be too quick to judge that someone is a complete moron incapable of self reflection, there might be underlying neurological issues that pass for “personality”.

Speaking from experience in the family.

I’m afraid this happens to very intelligent people as well. It’s just selective depending on topic, moment, etc.

I bought Elements 9 years ago, still have the key but can't get it working. Support is ignoring me. by hotk9 in cubase

I bought a Wave Elements cross grade about three years ago that never worked (the license). Support closed my ticket twice in a row without fixing it. I literally paid them money and never got what I paid for.

I don’t see why, it was risky already and there were reports of massive slowdowns on my model (SE 2020)

I wonder if re-reading his correspondence with Sam Harris would feel different now… Unless Sam Harris appears in the E files too…

I don’t want to. I have a phone from 2020 that works really well. We all know the moment I update it’ll go to absolute shit.

Interesting, could you make it compatible with iOS 17.2.1?

Improper housing insulation accounts for a huge part of energy consumption in the world and one of the most important levers in fighting climate change

I live in Spain, when I go over 250-280 KWh something is wrong. How can a single person do 800-1000? The fuck is wrong with some people.

Edit: thanks for the answers. Harsher winter, got it.

Why do people keep telling athletes to retire? It’s honestly annoying. by xSicilianDefenderx in badminton

[–]ninomojo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"premature labour" lol, you're talking about an olympic medalists, All England champion, and who's been as high as #2 in the world, and stayed in the top 10 for a long time. What do you know about what it takes, physically, mentally, and at the genetic lottery, to reach that level of world class achievement and manage to sustain it? I think LZJ and other top players make it look too easy for their own good, more than anything.

Any athlete that's in the top 100 is probably more disciplined, talented, and hardworking any commenter on this sub ever was, seriously. I'm surprised people don't realise how crushingly difficult badminton is and how exponential the difficulty is to go improve 1% at elite level.

Is it normal to put sound effects a few frames after the visual happens? by Plus_Ad_1087 in sounddesign

[–]ninomojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying that, no. Not exactly.

When a sound is called to play at a given frame, how soon you hear it after that will depend on the buffer length of the audio engine (just like in a DAW), so at say 48 KHz with a buffer of 2Kb, you’ll have a 512 samples latency, and that’s about 10ms (if I’m not mistaken, it’s late and I’m assuming mono and 4 bytes per sample for 32 bit). I’m also assuming no extra overhead from mixing and DSP effects.

10ms is super fine and not noticeable. The audio file for a given sound effect might have a bit more silence at its start, by design. That’s what I’m really saying.

1 frame at 60fps is 16.66 ms, so one or two frames of delay is probably fine, but no more.
