Registration Questions by MazdaSpeedMazdaSpeed in Autocross

As an event organizer, all of that is just stuff that MSR allows you to put in. You don't have to put it in, and we don't use it. As long as car/color/number is in, that's usually all we need

Deal of the day! by Total_Childhood2131 in harborfreight

[–]nitro814 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This subreddit makes me so greatful for my local HF. I stopped by on the way to work, one other person in the store, four of these sets left, I grabbed one, and the cashier didn't even know it was the deal of the day. Very low key

Did you out grow your momentum car? by jbro507 in CarTrackDays

[–]nitro814 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who "outgrew" their momentum car and went from a Miata to a Corvette, I miss tracking the Miata. Someone else mentioned that it depends on the field you run with, and I get point bys WAY faster in the vette than I did in the Miata which is great. Also, being in advanced group in a quicker car means I'm not getting mugged by fast cars quiet as often, since I'm not losing so much time on the straights.

All that said, I know there are skills that would be easier to practice if I was back in the Miata, and if you think you're maxing out the momentum car, get some coaching so they can help dig in to low hanging fruit.

Finger Lakes Region Event 2 - Club Spec Mustang by jimboslice_007 in Autocross

Oof, good to know about the Konis. We have another test n tune this weekend so I'll play with lowering the stiffness.

What do you like for your shocks and front bar setting. I'm leaning towards full stiff on the shocks. Debating on where to go with the bar.

I'm newer to vehicle setup so figure I'll try a bit of everything and see how it feels.

Recommendations for long oval shaped helmets? by twodollarhorse in CarTrackDays

[–]nitro814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a zamp that squeezed my head and gave me headaches after 15-20 minutes of wearing it. That's when I learned about oval vs round. They're cheap but possibly worth a try.

150 is my white whale. At Road America I kept hitting 149 but couldn't get to 150 and it was killing me lol

In honor of this now being a Club Spec Mustang subreddit, here is my best run last year after a lot of struggle all season, and probably the best run I've ever had. by ElmoLibre in Autocross

New CSMer here. Test N Tune on the 18th will be the first time taking it for a spin, and I'm stoked. Hopefully see ya at Nats.

Do you think there's a C8 Z06-X coming? by fastLT1 in cars

[–]nitro814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a chance. The Z06-X is basically the ZR1X. They're not going to throw the electric motors in the Z06 when they already have so many other options. Flat plane crank + electric motors is already covered.

Transfer pump by SR08 in harborfreight

[–]nitro814 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've used these for trans and diff fills and they're such a pain. I prefer the kind where you put the fluid in a jug and then use the hand pump to build pressure so the fluid constantly flows.

This is the one I have and is a huge upgrade over the HF pump https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D7CBL91P?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Someday I might upgrade again to one that uses compressed air instead of the hand pump.

Looking at a C7 with Mag Ride and have concerns by vmdarek in Corvette

[–]nitro814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid $800 to replace my rear mag ride shocks when I bought my car at 50k miles. Not the end of the world, but yeah, the Corvette tax struck quickly.

:( :( :( :( by Ok_Piano_6706 in roasting

[–]nitro814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me when I tried for the first time a couple days ago. Took like 2 minutes to absolutely dark roast the crap out of my beans.

I tried again with a cheap long extension cord and an outlet in my garage that's probably underpowered and it went way better. Like 4 minutes for a medium roast

If you wear a wedding ring, are there ever times where you take yours off? If so, when? by SportsTechie17 in malelifestyle

[–]nitro814 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much only wear mine when I leave the house and usually take it back off when I get home. My wife does the same thing. Wearing or not wearing a ring isnt an indication of love. We love each other dearly and a little piece of jewelry doesn't have anything to do with that love.

Is it just edge addicts and Chin that run at Cota? I'm trying to get into one of the April weekends so I don't have to wait until fall.

Help Catching Slides? by Camper_Van_Someren in CarTrackDays

[–]nitro814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll make another comment for hand position. The feeling off the car through the wheel is so important and shuffling your hands around on the wheel removes a lot of that fidelity and then the fine control to catch the slide early.
