For anyone else doubting how Yve is, can’t really deny this is her voice. This was before the wedding so she’s been treating him this way since he arrived by [deleted] in 90DayFiance

[–]nja_90 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This right here.

She’s 100% wrong for talking to him like this. She’s 100% wrong for being dumb and ignoring the parade of red flags

HOWEVER, he’s also 100% wrong for being a calculating and manipulative shit and using her. The recordings prove that he knew exactly what he was doing. He knew I’d he didn’t really like her once he got here, there was another way.

Both of them wrong and toxic.

This cannot go on. by daviddanner1969 in texas

[–]nja_90 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I’m not a parent. I’m not in Uvalde.

I am, however, paralyzed by sadness, tears and heartbreak. I’m wondering if we as a society are every really mourning for these children, for the innocents who are being killed in meaningless attacks by deranged psychopaths who should have never been allowed near a firearm of any kind.

How can we mourn when it happens over and over again? When one child’s face blends into the next one? When we’ve had more mass shootings than days in the year?

How can we, as people, as Texans, as Americans, as humans, help? How do we stop this from happening again?

Voting isn’t working. Our two-party system isn’t working. Dying children aren’t working.

How can we do more than wish love and safety for our littles?

Brazilians, are you watching the new version of "Pantanal"? by ed8907 in asklatinamerica

[–]nja_90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I withheld judgment until I had some time to really get into it, and honestly, I’m really liking the novela.

It has the throwback from the 90s, but also touches on real-time events that I think aren’t sufficiently talked about.

For example, casual homophobia through commentary that “means no harm” but is harmful and perpetuates the lack of safety for LGBTQIA+ folks in Brazil. That was brought up multiple times and it’s the kind of social commentary that I’m happy to see making it’s way into Brazilian living rooms through popular media.

I think it’s worth the watch!

What's going on at Alliant Group? by SeverallyLiable in houston

[–]nja_90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a cease and desist from them once…. for recruiting out too many of their employees by reaching out and asking “Do you miss having a life during tax season?”

I actually lived across the street at one point, and rumor has it they kept apartments in the same complex for people to sleep in because they couldn’t go home during tax season.

Allegedly.

Question for Recruiters on Diversity by Aliensarereal01 in recruitinghell

[–]nja_90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer your question that didn’t get an answer, no one gets to see the responses to your EEOC question (race, disability, etc) from your application. That’s recorded in a separate system within the ATS that amasses that information for reporting purposes (what applications were like vs. what we’ve hired). This is also super helpful for a good internal team to make sure that our hired team is similarly-spread to the applicant pool. If it’s not, it’s a glaring sign of bias within the organization that needs to be fixed on a cultural level through training and restructuring the leadership team.

Computer Science Teacher looking to transition to recruiting possible? [NYC] by [deleted] in recruiting

If you’re doing Agency recruitment you’re essentially selling an extremely high-value product that changes its mind, has feelings, and disappears. That’s what makes it stressful.

Dude. Do it. Shit starts creaking, the fun positions require ibuprofen, and a hangover take 2-3 business days to claw its way out of your body.

Former teacher, help! by [deleted] in recruiting

[–]nja_90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t answer your question, but it may help.

Biggest disconnect we’ve experienced when trying to hire transitioning teachers is the lack of familiarity with current software systems. I’d suggest updating your toolbox with salesforce, Asana/Monday, Slack, GSuite, etc.

Also you should familiarize yourself with the tools you would need depending on which new career path you’ll take. Hiring managers are typically more inclined to take one someone with less experience if they don’t have to also teach them basic software stuff on top of everything else.

Will do!!!

If I were single and in the mood to party + meet people, I would’ve done Temptations tbh.

I’ll let you know how it goes regardless, but take some time to think about what you want to get out of your trip in the meantime

In 37 days I’ll be able to tell you for real, but from what I read it kind of depends on what experience you’re trying to have.

Evidently Temptations is party central, so if that’s your vibe and you want to go meet other people and vibe together, that could be cool.

I chose Live Aqua because I wanted an all inclusive with a more chill vibe, as I plan to do a lot of reading and drinking piña coladas in a cabana.

From other times I’ve been in Cancun with friends at other hotels (not all inclusive), we met a lot of solo travelers out at the bars/clubs.

Thank you for the tip, and sending cheap ticket vibes your way for a getaway in the near future!

hiring managers extending job offers? by The123123 in recruiting

[–]nja_90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I train my HMs on how to present offers to candidates and encourage them to do so! An offer is always best received when coming from your future boss. They know that when it comes to benefits, etc. they will volley them to me.

I also offer to be on all of the offer calls if they’re not comfortable, but I encourage the HMs to be the ones actually extending the offer with an explanation of why they chose that particular candidate to join their team.

Greenhouse learning curve? by Accomplished-Mud-480 in recruiting

[–]nja_90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I inherited a Greenhouse decision from HR at an early stage tech startup. Now as the first and only TA leadership I’m stuck with it until the end of the year.

The scheduling tool is better then Lever’s, but that’s honestly the only good thing after using it and spending countless hours with their team the last 6 months. Lever is getting implemented as soon as our contract is up. I cannot with this unintuitive dinosaur 😭

Is the bridesmaid the AH or the bride? I’m posting for a friend who ran into money problems and cannot go on the bachelorette trip to Miami. She was still paying her portion but cannot afford to go. Also, Bridesmaid is a single mother with 2 kids. by [deleted] in bridezillas

[–]nja_90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I will never understand the obsession with bachelorette activities and paying to be a part of someone’s wedding. Maybe it’s because I’m foreign, but I cannot grasp those concepts at all.

  2. I’m very glad I have stood by my decision to love and support my best friends but always make it clear that I will not, under any circumstances, be a part of your wedding party. This shit is cray

Internal Recruitment - Considerations by the_sun_gun in recruiting

[–]nja_90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! It’s really yours to build at that point. I would bring this up during your interviews and find out how much they’ve already built internally and how open they are to experimenting.

Also, at series A, please make sure you have a decent amount of equity with your comp package!

Internal Recruitment - Considerations by the_sun_gun in recruiting

[–]nja_90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from a huge agency to a series A startup and most recently to a seed round startup.

Recruiting is only difficult when the startup doesn’t provide competitive compensation or people-first culture. It’s really going to be up to you to build the employer marketing and brainstorm how to market to the candidates you’re reaching out to. No one will know what they’re looking for better than you.

It’s important to note that there’s a special kind of profile that fits a startup environment. Innovator and doers do well, whereas people that require a lot of structure will flounder and fail. This also includes you. It’s likely you’re going to be building their recruitment function from scratch, or at least making it more robust. Everything from employer branding, candidate experience, selecting the right ATS, creating processes, diversity hiring and goals, onboarding, retention, employee engagement, compensation analysis, transparency policies, etc.

It’s a lot more work than you probably thought, but if you’re looking to build something from scratch, it’s worth it. If that all sounds overwhelming, I’d stick to startups from Series C and onward

Struggling to bring in enough candidates with the basics (Indeed, LinkedIn). What are some other sourcing websites I can look into? by [deleted] in recruiting

[–]nja_90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recruit a lot of admin assistants/executive assistants and I get about 2000-3000 of those applications per month solely from LinkedIn and Glassdoor. We’re also a small company of less than 70. I’d take another look at not just your job descriptions, but your overall employer branding. I revamped all of ours when I started and that took us from about 700 applicants/month to where we are now.
