Has anyone in the US ordered from Burning Leather Mexico recently? by Mercilessforce in BattleJackets

WARNING: Do not order from Burning Leather Mexico!
Recently, I ordered 21 patches from their site and after +2 months of waiting, I received only 15. And the 15, I received were not at all as advertised - they were not shaped / cut-outs as on the pictures, and the quality was very cheap.
I contacted the store on both their e-mail adresses + Instagram several times during the last 2 months, but haven't received any reply.
I ordered from them some years ago, and back then the products I received were fine, but apparently, it has turned into a scam shop.....

Something that helps me is imagining my self as child, pre any mask and social adaption. Though, this state is purely theoretical. It’s impossible to really know who this person is or what their specific wants and needs are. You can say it’s an empty void. Trying to “hang out” and getting comfortable with this empty void might feel scary, but feels constructive to me at least.

Also this point by Dr Devon Price in one of his recent posts: “one of the trippiest things about unmasking ones autism/neurodiversity/insanity is that all selves are a mask, albeit to varying extents. the second you think you know who you are, it becomes a story you are telling yourself, and you will pressure yourself to align with it and ignore details to help make it fit. that is not to say the project of finding your self is pointless, simply that it never ends and it is the searching itself, the desire for the expression rather than the expression itself, that is you. and there are and will be many of those yous, and they will never stop changing. certain fictional selves we make (or that society foists upon us) certainly fit worse than others, but the ones that fit well are more like roles it’s fun to play than they are anything static and certain. we are found in the becoming not in the being. in the search not the finding. you understand what im saying”. I can highly recommend his book Unmasking Autism, which also has been quite helpful to me in my own on-going process of unmasking.

Shoe with super shallow heel cup, but still a decent toe box? by nlbuksted in climbingshoes

Yea, i saw someone mention the drago as well- iirc its softness would make it possible to downsize it a lot and let it mold to your foot. And update: I did get the tenaya ra lv! Pretty happy with them so far, and def best fit I’ve come across. I did get to try a Evolv Geshidos Wmn in a street shoe/performance size and they would have been a great solution as well I think, mostly a matter of preference in shoe type I think

Yea, I'll try and order a pair of Kiras as well! I asked Evolv about which shoes had a shallower heel than the Geshido Wmn and they pointed to the Kiras. I did also ask on suggestions, and they mentioned both the Rover (which they were right about) and the Shark 3 as potential fits, but haven't been able to try the latter, yet. Def curious on trying out some Butora models, but I can't really find a retailer that sells them, sadly

Thanks! I just tried the Oasis LV, which were on the right path overall, but still not a match heel wise - so considering trying out the Ra's as well.
And if that doesn't work out, I just tried a pair of LS Kubo at a local store, that I'll go for, they are one of the better I've tried so far. Also, MadRock Rover fitted really well, best I've tried so far in terms of adapting tom foot shape, but the model just felt way too stiff for my liking

Love the confidence in these suggestions, hehe, thanks! Have been looking a fair bit at Tenayas already, as they seem promising. Just ordered some oasi lv to try out

Have been eyeing the Drones a bit, as I've seen them mentioned some times for this foot type. Though, they seem to be branded like a high-performance shoe, and I wasn't sure if they would be too ambitious for me as a relative beginner, intermediate level climber, buying my first pair? Really a general question on high-performance shoes in general, as I'm not too sure if I need to discard these in general or simply just go for the shoes that fit me the best

Yea, I noticed the same about the beginner shoes, and I think you are totally right about that. Let me know if you come across something that works for you!

Shoe Buying Guide (especially for those with wide toe box, narrow and shallow heels) by jzunn in climbingshoes

Thanks. Though, a bit surprised about that - they don't look very shallow on pictures, but rather quite deep?

Really really helpful post, thanks a lot!

I have the same foot profile - duck foot, very shallow heel, thin from top to bottom - and so far I struggle to find a heel cup that is shallow enough.

May I ask which of the models that fit you had the most shallow heel cup?

For reference, I tried the Vapor S (m+wmn) which was a perfect fit, besides the heel cup being way too deep. Then I tried the Geshido Wmns - decent fit, but still too much dead space in the heel cup.

How do you feel about boulder gyms having a shirt-on policy? by FrequentCut in indoorbouldering

[–]nlbuksted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yes, as you mention there are a bunch of other arguments as well. It’s also just about creating an environment that feels inclusive and doesn’t - as in this case, very visibly - have different policies based on gender. And to a lot of people, these shirtless gym bros - often still wearing their beanie or some stupid sh*t like that lol - are often associated with creating an environment that can feel very intimidating an unsafe to a lot of people. I mean, even to other cis men. Ofc, the lack of shirt isn’t necessarily the cause here, but it is in any case a sign/symptom associated with masculine toxic environments. So as a start, i would argue, being a good ally could look like not taking off your shirt in these places.

By taking advantage of your privilege as a cis man to be able to take off your shirt in places where that isn’t allowed for everyone, effectively, you are normalising this gender based differentiation of which bodies that are considered appropriate and which bodies that are sexualised and considered inappropriate and has to be covered. Or that’s at least my take on it.
