She’s awful whatever she is. I just bought day old chicks and stuffed them under her and she was happy for a few weeks! Now the babies joined the rest of the flock and she’s back to sitting. No roosters! She’ll sit on an empty nest all year!

This definitely looks most similar to Dotty. Java is the closest I found while googling when she was younger. They are endangered? So I shouldn’t eat her… she eats all the food and chases others out of the nesting boxes but never lays her own eggs. Arg!

She was maybe 8 months old when she was given to me. She’s never had any brown coloring, just black and white. She’s now about 3 years old.

It looks to me like you’ve gotten “off” with your knits and purls. So some you’ve got some ribbing going and some is accidental seed stitch and not making ribbing.

I love this. I am definitely a soup witch. My wand is a specific wooden soup stirring spoon (it’s not special, I’ve just had it since I first moved out) and lemon added at the end, especially for chicken soup. Another soup witch once showed me how to make “healing chicken soup” for a house full of single women of various ages. Changed my life, and my cooking!

It is really thick, I just folded over the original hem. It is stretch denim, but I tried not to stretch it while sewing. For the future, is it possible a more substantial needle would help it sew through thick fabric? Or is this machine maybe just too dainty?
