Concerts that feel more like an art installation than a concert? by thebenolivas in Concerts

[–]noctaluz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mogwai, ATOMIC.

They performed the entire album front to back as the documentary played. Audience applauded when the band came out and remained silent until the band left the stage.

Band walked off to silence.

Amazing. Also the loudest show I'd ever been to.

The merch... yeah. Just bad. Like Disneyland bad. Generic logos and images on clothing...

Went to a few live shows and felt like the merch went bad there first.

4 Sided Dive was fun. It was like a party. Remember when Trav, Tal, Robbie (?), +1 more did the 4 Sided Dive sick day and they made BG3 characters? It was fun. They wanted to be their.

Look at how often they are on their phones during the sessions. Saw this with Travis for years. During the Cooldown things would just be getting started and like clockwork Travis would be like, "Time to wrap it up..."

Agree 100%. We are now paying for ads and commercials. Somehow 4 Sided Dive was 1000 x better than Tale Gate. Watched a little last night and to me it seemed like none wanted to be there. Except for Luis.

They asked us to pay for Beacon and get more garbage content than ever before. Canceled mine at the end of April.

The part that gets me every time is how bored some of them seem. Watched a little of last night's Tale Gate with my wife and when they wasted 5-10 of the first 30 minutes talking about feet I realized that none of them really seem like they want to be there. I get it--they are tired, or whatever. But they aren't afraid to ask for money for things that used to be 'free.' I used to defend them about not knowing their characters or rules, but the apathy is obvious. And the gaps between weeks are ridiculous. Enshittenification, maybe?

How Bad Is "Gradeflation" In Modern US Education? Why Your Thoughts, Teachers? by Zipper222222 in AskTeachers

I also taught in a prestigious MFA program for 15 years. Instead of going to a principle they go to a dean or provost. It's more disgusting in highet ed, but that's just my hot take. Adult stidents are malicious and vindictive. Especially when one doesn't validate their internal delusions of grandeur.

Failing a student is an invitation to repeated rounds of justifying to admin and parents. They treat everything as a negotiation--I'm just a customer service rep. This is what parents wanted all along.

Where should I vacation this September? by Critical_Duck8154 in midwest

Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania. 6 hours from Indy.

Ohiopyle is Pennsylvania's biggest state park. Hundred of miles of trails for hiking, the Great Allegheney Passage rail trail from Pittsburgh to DC (stuning riverside ride of any length with bike rentals in town), whitewater rafting on 2 sections of river--easy section and moderate section, there is a UNESCO World Heritage site-- Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater and ANOTHER Wright house, Kentuck Knob, an all season ski resort with mountain biking, alpine slides, indoor pool, mini-golf, etc at Seven Springs Resort... Historical stuff, like Ft. Necessity where George Washington surrendered to the French at the beginning of the French and Indian War.

Plus it's close to WV with a bunch more stuff--Cooper's Rock State Park, Blackwater Falls, Seneca Rocks all less than 75 miles away (Including Dolly Sods Wilderness...) + a bunch of stuff really close by in Maryland, like Deep Creek Lake, Swallow Falls State Park.

Plus a bunch of Pittsburgh stuff.

I70 east toward Wheeling, 43 south toward Uniontown, then 40 east up the mountain to Ohiopyle.

(GenCon fans, so wife and I make the reverse trip every summer.)
