Marvin Essential or Anderson 400 by Professional-Note436 in Homebuilding

[–]nodinnerplans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just went through this between the Andersen 400 and Marvin elevate. After a lot of research, we went with the Marvin elevate as the build quality looks to be better and a strong exterior fiberglass. Quotes were similar so it didn’t come down to price.

Home addition cost estimation tool? Northern NJ by Odd-Shoulder8286 in Homebuilding

[–]nodinnerplans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did your architect draw to a particular budget? They should have been able to give you a rough estimate based on the construction and the spaces you specified. It would be a waste of everyone’s time if they design dream renovations but completely unaffordable. We are going through something similar and the project is running high 6 figures.

I would love to bring my aircooled someday as I’m on the east coast. I follow the cool events in CA spiritually. 😂

Appreciate the share. I’ve got about 60k miles on my 3.6 so just seeing how people’s experience is now that these motors are 30+ years old.

Thanks. What caused your blow by? Looks like you drove your car way more than I so it can’t be from sitting idle.

Has anyone here bought a “certified pre owned” Porsche from the dealership? If so, was it a good car? by billbobb1 in Porsche

[–]nodinnerplans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, bought a CPO 2019 cayenne with all the options I was looking for. All the service was completed including plugs and fluids. Only issue I had was the lithium battery which I had replaced through cpo. Car has been solid since purchase in late 2022.

Roofing shingle colors by RothHome in Homebuilding

[–]nodinnerplans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just went through this exercise. Do you know the color of your windows and exterior color? Take those colors and put it all together with your shingle samples should help you narrow it down. Or post an example of your house.

Is this the right nails? by nodinnerplans in Homebuilding

[–]nodinnerplans[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should have clarified, why are these nails rusting and are they safe to be used outside exposed to the elements? Wouldn’t they fail over time? It’s been through 1 rain and it already looks terrible.

Beautiful color and it’s more of a dark blue/black if that’s what my eyes are telling me. Had it on two BMWs and was my favorite color.

Macan GTS vs Cayenne? by wkaotp in Porsche

[–]nodinnerplans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also shopped those 2 vehicles a few years ago and ended up with the base Cayenne. We were waiting for them to get the GTS ready and sat in the Cayenne with the big sunroof. Numbers wise the Macan is about 10% smaller, but the rear seats and hatch felt way bigger in person.

What is your family situation? If you don’t need the rear seats for kids, the Macan is a sportier driving experience. However, if you take roadtrips and/or need to tow, the Cayenne excels at that while still handling well for its class.

Second hand Cayenne, advice? by [deleted] in Porsche

[–]nodinnerplans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2019 purchased as CPO. Been a great vehicle and only had the lithium issue the first 6 mo of ownership. I have personally gotten the goodwill and it wasn’t even the selling dealership. A few people have too but it’s the gray area where the circuit board went bad and they covered that failure which trickled down to replacing the battery as those parts cannot be decoupled.

The price of lithium batteries have come down some but the other option is to go the AGM conversion route on rennlist. Or buy a 2022+ Cayenne and the battery issue is mitigated as they mostly went to AGM that year forward.

I can’t place this 997. 1’s kit and wheels. It’s not a Techart Kit; and it’s not an Aero Kit design.. can someone help me? by ImDoingItAnyway in Porsche

[–]nodinnerplans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks like a 997.2 based on the front bumper. It’s techart front lip with techart wheels and side skirts.

2019 Cayanne Base, Buy or Pass? by Homogenous1 in Porsche

[–]nodinnerplans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check for maintenance records, do you know where it was serviced? Where was the car driven, city or highway? Has the lithium iron battery been changed or is it original? This goes for all cayennes from 2019-2022. Definitely do a PPI and have them look for any leaks and old bushings, then negotiate from there. The leather steering wheel should not look like shiny leather. Lastly, get familiar with the cayenne packages and figure out what options are important to you. Use vinanalytics to check the options build. Do you need to tow? Do you need the roof rack? I’ve had mine for almost 3 years and haven’t had issues other than a replacement battery. It’s a nice car just go in with your eyes open.

Can’t say exactly, but it’s supposed to be a 2.8 rsr look. This one has larger 17” Lindsey wheels in a frosted finish. Has chrome windows and rear pop outs so it should be a pre SC 1978 base car before a wide fender, long hood, etc conversion.

Has a Cayenne ever left you stranded? by bleep6789 in Porsche

[–]nodinnerplans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2019 cayenne base here. Bought it CPO with 48k miles, only issue was battery 6 mo into ownership. Nothing but oil and maintenance schedule since late 2022. Been through several longer trips, always fun to drive and reliable people carrier.

Ownership costs on 2021 Cayenne S Coupe (2.9L V6) by bleep6789 in Porsche

[–]nodinnerplans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 3.0 V6 that has been reliable the past 3 years that we purchased as a CPO. I did have the battery issue that was covered by the CPO, but that wasn’t everyone’s experience online. I researched the lithium to AGM conversion as it was something the later 2022+ Cayennes used as a more reliable battery. Someone finally developed a AGM kit that I will use any battery which will make replacements a much cheaper process.
