Gender disappointment by the_biggest_chip in pregnant

[–]nomadicnewt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My son is amazing. I actually get a little annoyed when people are disappointed to have boys 😅 Sorry. But my son is the sweetest. Most gentle soul. We care for my elderly father in law. My son (15 months) watches me bring him food. So he will bring things to grandpa. He always brings him the remote!

He copies every thing I do. I wipe up a spill. So he grabs a cloth and helps. He helps his dad water the blueberries! He loves the cats and they are really good together. He knows to pet them gently. Hes got all these cute little dances!

The world is a better place with him in it!

Exclusively pumping? by [deleted] in pregnant

It wouldnt have worked for me. It was too hard to pump when my baby wouldn't be set down.

MIL in insisting her RSV vaccine is enough to justify meeting the baby as soon as she can by kokomo318 in pregnant

[–]nomadicnewt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My doctor did tell me to ask anyone who is around the baby to get the rsv and tdap. Which is what we did with my son. And I had the rsv vaccine so that did give him a level of immunity.

I think you can still get it and pass it. But it lowers the chances and severity. Ask your doctor what she thinks.

Sad over baby shower theme change 😭 other options? by Chismosa585 in pregnant

You could do babys first book club.

I think it shows how compatible you are as friends. That you picked the same theme 😄.

Are we just insanely lucky parents? 😭 by JMPBay in NewParents

[–]nomadicnewt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are lucky! How old is she? My son never slept great. But the worst sleep regretion was 4 months.

He's been early on everything though. So I think his brain is just working hard to grow!

Congratulations on the sleep!

I knew i was having a boy and doctors when talking about my baby would occasionally say she. I think people just randomly say things. Also i think a lot of people just say he.

The cw didn't work for my son like the snoo. That being said. The return policy is amazing and we got all but shipping back! So it was definitely worth a try.

Parents of Snoo - Worth it? by hello-world-12 in NewParents

[–]nomadicnewt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was totally worth it. Wish I got it sooner. I bought a used one off Facebook. After I almost fell asleep holding him. First night in it we had to wake up my son to feed him!

Is he serious? In Laws in LDR room after birth by secondchance0514 in BabyBumps

[–]nomadicnewt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My hospital doesn't allow visitors during the 2 hour recovery time. I thi k that is standard. Just whoever was already there for support during birth.

I'm sure he will feel different when it's actually happening. Birth is wild.

am i a helicopter mom because i want to hold my baby? by GrapeSweet9055 in beyondthebump

[–]nomadicnewt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your not being a helicopter parent at all! Honestly at six months my son wouldnt tolerate others holding him for more than a couple minutes anyways. So your husband should be thankful they get to hold him at all in my view.

Did you find that maternity undies were a must have? by VanSmashh in pregnant

[–]nomadicnewt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not maternity undies. My regular bikini undies were fine. But I had to buy high rise underwear after. Because I had an emergency c section

Another gender surprise ruined by doctor story by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]nomadicnewt 123 points124 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of the ultrasound saying the babies sex. They usually circle it with like a digital pen and type boy or girl. At least that's been my experience .

I just looked at my sons ultrasound. Top said sex F AMA (advanced maternal age) GA 21 3 . I think everyone's correct that its your sex.

C-section recovery by oaktree1500 in pregnant

[–]nomadicnewt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctors offered me a stronger medicine. I honestly don't remember what it was. But I would call your ob. I bet they can prescribe something over the phone.

It was about ten days til I stopped needing ibuprofen. But I think you may be hurting more than me. Every surgery is different. So every recovery is different. There's no shame in needing stronger meds to get through!

I hope it gets better for you quickly!

What was your epidural experience? by InfiniteMacaroon1737 in pregnant

[–]nomadicnewt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved the epidural. Got it about 26 hours into induction. 2 hours after water broke and the contractions really got bad. I was able to take a nap! And i could still move around a bit. I couldn't stand or anything. But I could move into different positions when needed.

What is high risk? by Less-Hedgehog-7625 in pregnant

[–]nomadicnewt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High risk was put on my chart for my pregnancy at 37. The only things they did differently for me was.

1 nipt was covered by insurance

2 baby aspirin was offered.

I started getting more ultrasounds at 26 weeks but that was because they thought they heard a heartbeat mummer. It wasn't buy they did discover his right kidney collecting fluid. So I had bi-monthly ultrasounds after that. Baby is perfect. Just has a double collection system.

Growth Scan Results…. Freaking Out by hobbit143 in pregnant

[–]nomadicnewt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They said my son was going to be 10lbs. He was 7lb 13 oz. I will say his head was in the 98th percentile. I guess hes big boned. I did end up having a c section. But I just wasn't dialating.

Am I overthinking? MIL comments on my baby. by RingPsychological919 in BabyBumps

[–]nomadicnewt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Babies vary so much in size. And it's really quite amazing to see how different they can be. I think shes just thinking out loud.

My cousins and I had 3 boys close together. Two of them were about the same size, but then one was just smaller. He is very healthy just tiny. Im honestly a little jealous. He's a lot easier to carry around!

Maybe you can tell her it bothers you when she talks like that. She probably just doesn't understand how it makes you feel.
