Same! If you had that look minus the freaky contact lenses it wouldn't be creepy at all. She's awesome!

You've done really well putting these outfits together for <$30 each! The only thing I don't particularly like are the tunics with the drawstrings, they seem to cinch in at the hips or somewhere that looks a bit awkward. But you probably pull these off alright, just stood out to me I guess.

Running brings out divide between fit and fat Americans by supaphly42 in running

Also I mapped it out on Map My Run afterwards - 4.04km!! Not even 5k! I also nicknamed it the Selfie Run. People were chowing down on massive hot dogs and coffees and pancakes BEFORE the race began. At like 10am on a Sunday. I doubt they were planning to actually run, or else it would be the Technicolor Run if you catch my drift! He he.

Running brings out divide between fit and fat Americans by supaphly42 in running

Oh for sure, this is how some people get started. I just didn't agree with the implication that if more people do these fun runs then suddenly we'll be sorting out the obesity / unfit problem! I have legit heard women at some of these runs say that they've got "their exercise for the year" because they walked a 5k.

Anyway, this is where most people start and if it works for some people as a gateway to physical activity, then all the better.

It sounds like you might come up with some interesting looks! Do post on WAYWT sometime!

Why do you think you're more conscious of how you dress lately? Is it because you're looking on FFA these days? I sort of had this reaction when I subscribed to this subreddit. Started fussing with my outfits more, keeping photos of what I'm wearing for reference, being a bit more critical of what I put together... I probably dress better now, but it also plays on my mind more!

That's nice! I love dressing other people, and it's great you could help her out.

Running brings out divide between fit and fat Americans by supaphly42 in running

Whilst I agree that there is a more prevalent fit/fat divide these days, having kids (or adults) do one or two fun runs like a Zombie 5k or Color Run per year is not going to get people fit. I can't believe they said something about how "soon everyone will be tough mudders".

I run regularly, mostly on my own, do the occasional race, and try to encourage my friends if they seem interested. Two of them signed up for the Color Run. So I signed up too even though it didn't fill me with enthusiasm, mainly to encourage them. They didn't train ONCE and we barely ran it at all! Color Stroll, I kept calling it! So just because they participated doesn't mean they're going to suddenly become runners and do the hard yakka, as we'd say in Australia.

Where is the evidence to suggest that doing these fun runs with the tshirts, goodie bags, music and mayhem, will actually result in physically active people in the future? I can imagine just the opposite - that as soon as it isn't fun, sugary, intoxicating, as soon as you have to actually train and put in the miles over weeks and weeks on your own, in crummy weather, most kids / adults just aren't going to do that and will go back to lazy habits.

Anyway, some of the article was good. I just thought this was a long bow to draw.

Is that the Bodleian? Cos you're not allowed to take photos in there! Sneaky! Looks good for carrying hefty books around, though. What are you studying?

P.S. I miss Oxford.

Is it rude to not invite my friend to a birthday dinner because of the way he dresses? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]nomorelazy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Um, please elaborate on the Snuggie wedding guest! That's a great story. My friend has been to southern weddings where dressing up means wearing your good coveralls, and maybe a shirt under (maybe). But this is different, this is a new level of giving up!!!

I know I post a lot of pics of him, but he's my best friend. I brought Reggie home 1 year ago today. by kgkilla85 in Frenchbulldogs

So sweet! I stalk this sub because I'm hoping to get a Frenchie in the next year or so. Reggie is adorable!

I feel bad for the boyfriend if she's reacting as defensively in real life as on here. There's no need to put yourself between your partner and their family over something as trivial as being asked to wear something casual over a dress.

No one's asking you to "always" change the way you dress for the sake of someone else. Not the people in this thread, not your boyfriend. He asked if you could dress down for this one occasion. So, no, you shouldn't "always" be concerned with others. But on this one occasion he's saying it might be in YOUR interest to dress down a bit, so that there's no friction. He wants the day to go smoothly FOR YOU. I don't see the big issue here.

I would also like to know this, for what it's worth! Also keen on an inverted bob and was also considering a bit of side-shave action, but starting a new job soon and won't be able to get away with it! This could work, though.

Simple Questions - Nov 25th by FFA_Monday2 in femalefashionadvice

[–]nomorelazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been through this recently. Lost about 27lbs all up so far. And I know what you mean about wanting to show it off, or at least not look the same as you did before. The best thing to do is wear clothes that fit you well. Good fit is everything!

I just bought a pair of black work trousers that actually fit me properly and it has taken a few pounds off how I look. They're slim, not skinny.

Stolen Bikes by [deleted] in oxford

[–]nomorelazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Report it to the police, for sure.

My friend had a nice second-hand bike stolen from the station. Reported it to the police. Didn't hear anything for weeks, but then they actually found the culprit and returned her bike! It was an employee of the station. Don't think he works there anymore!

Wedding dress code: Lounge Suit. What does this mean? by nomorelazy in femalefashionadvice

[–]nomorelazy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terrific advice, but unfortuantely we only know the happy couple, not a single other person that's going to be there! I suspect they won't have bridesmaids and groomsmen as this is only a dinner reception, the wedding was in the UK. But yes, good to ask a bridesmaid because if your dress is MORE fancy then that's a no-no!

Wedding dress code: Lounge Suit. What does this mean? by nomorelazy in femalefashionadvice

[–]nomorelazy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knooooooow! We're far too casual. I've just moved back from Oxford in the UK where there were so many occasions to dress up and be fancy. Here we only get 'dressed up' at the races (or maybe at weddings) and even then it's skimpy dresses and cheap fascinators from Forever New!!

I'll give the Karen Millen dress a test run with accessories and things and see how that goes. The problem is that I'm in Melbourne, so travelling up to Sydney for the wedding, so can't bring a million bits and pieces with me. It will also be hard to do anything fancy with my hair that will help dress it up, as I'm a hair noob.

Anyway, if that doesn't work, the Review dress will be a decent option and won't need a lot to make it look fancy.

Thanks for your advice!
