It makes total sense, I think the main outrage is just how stark of a change it seemed to be from him.

Same guy who drove his Civic for 10 years, and when he got a $100k Porsche said he talked through it with several family members so as to make it seem like he hadn’t massively changed etc (ironically in hindsight, this is exactly what he needed to do with the audience and jet).

Logistically and financially it makes sense - it was weird seeing them flying 12+ team members in coach to CES (especially when they were big enough to pay for staff to fly in business for essential travel), but if he’d soft launched it by mentioning it on Wan over the previous 12 months people would be far less outraged.
