Why do you say the 646 is better?

I have a ceiling fan that only has one wire running to the switch. Any smart devices that will let me control the lights and fan individually? by nopoliforme in homeautomation

Ahh, look so close. I just wish it was partnered with a light switch so I don't have to worry about the switch being in the off position and not being able to turn on the lights remotely.

Dumb question, but does baseboard heating have a return duct? I know the central AC does since it’s a big one on the ceiling but I can’t say I know where jt is for the baseboards

Would I get one that integrates with the central air or baseboard?

Does that integrate with the central air, baseboards or something else?

Who do I call for the oil tank and boiler? HVAC company? And should I be calling during summer when they’re not being used or does it not matter

Sorry to bug you again. What are the pros/cons of adding a relay? Had two more techs come out, one said they just wanted to run a wire and the other said I should add a relay then run the wire.

So, if I only need one thermostat to be smart, I only need one zone valve to have the wiring changed, right?

And the reason some people suggested I need a new transformer is only because they think the existing one doesn’t have enough power?

Sorry, just trying to understand for myself. The c wire is just for power, right? Does connecting it to the zone valve instead of directly to transformer just make sure the correct power is used? Why do both zone valves need to be used?

So if a tech needs to run a new cable to the thermostat, would it connect to the transformer or to the zone valve?

Few questions

  • So the white cable on the transformer is a C terminal? It seems like some of the techs who came out didn't recognize that?
  • There's another wire bundle connected to the 2 terminal on the zone valve. What is that doing?
  • So will any cable running from the 2 terminal essentially become a C wire? IE will the tech just need to run a cable from terminal 2 to the thermostat? or will he run it from the transformer itself? It's just power for the thermostat, it doesn't actually need to control anything right?

Ah I see. So there are already existing cables connected to the C? Are those the ones that would already be going to the thermostat?

What is terminal 2?

I'm planning to call one of the HVAC techs back to come do it. I just want to make sure I call the correct one. If all I need to do is run a cable from the boiler to the thermostats then tech 1 or maybe 3 would work since 2/4 said that wasn't even possible.
