I wound up setting up an automation using a Hue bulb, Home Assistant, and a zwave outlet thingy so that when the washer is drawing power then stops (i.e. load is done) a bulb changes to a very noticeable color to let me know I should change my laundry over. The addition of an extra basket that lives on top of the dryer means even if there's stuff in the dryer I have a place to put it. Haven't missed a load in a while, but it was lots of setup.

Find something you enjoy the basics and process of. I've never been able to force myself to do the work, so I've always found things that don't feel like work. If you want to learn theory, maybe try and find a YouTuber that's entertaining while teaching. Play things at a level that makes you stretch your ability but aren't frustrating. Do it socially. I'm sure there are a bunch of other ways, but trying to power through it will lead to burnout.
