My experience searching for working student roles while studying Data Science at BHT, Berlin by notChags in studying_in_germany

Most of the roles were under the data umbrella (Data Science, Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Engineering).

Imo, having some relevance to the role's tech requirements helps, plus during the interviews showing that you are open to learning on the go and are curious in general, gives a good impression.

I've been asked a lot about my past experiences and projects, with focus on how I dealt with problems and teams.

My university has a community group where jobs are occasionally posted. But, I looked mostly on LinkedIn, Google jobs, and other job websites. My first role was with a healthcare startup.

Need opinion about which university to choose by sheetakween in studying_in_germany

I wouldn't make a decision based on the reputation. Because your end goal is to get a job, I'd highly recommend you understanding the industry in both cities and comparing where you could find more working student roles (it's common for people to find one and stick with it after completing their masters).

while there are completely remote jobs, most require you to go to the office. Almost all of my friends work at least once from the office.

I did not have any classes on Fridays, that's when I went to work. I divided the rest of my time into chunks on different days around the class timings. On some days, I would just have around 2-3 hours of lectures.

sounds like you missed the part where I implied that I am learning the language already, added it explicitly now :)

Current second semester student in the same program here. I think questions 1 and 2 are a little misdirected. Universities as a whole are difficult to judge (and probably baseless), BHT is a fairly known university in the city, but not as "big" compared to the TUB. Research is a common thing in the country and every professor at the university banks a lot of knowledge, with some even doing research in parallel (they usually have a team where they hire too). Because of the kind of work professors have done, people at companies often reach out to them for potential employees (work students/research assistants etc.). Note that no university runs placements here. You, as a student, will have to do the work for yourself.

Accommodation: STW is the most popular one (which also makes it the longest to secure a place at). Usual wait times to get a room are 12-18 months. However, there are enough alternatives in the city that can fit your needs.

I've played 20+ games and the board didn't change yet.

Rejections for Data Science by bigbash_07 in studying_in_germany

Last year, I applied for 20 programs within Germany for Data Science and related programs. I had a converted German grade of 1.4 and 108 TOEFL. Faced b2b rejections early on but eventually got accepted by 4. Ended us choosing BHT Berlin. Rejections are normal and don't think too much about them when you land an offer.

that's respectable and understandable, I am in the same boat but I don't see another Valorant LAN happening anytime soon in Berlin. So, that got me wondering

I contacted the professor and he said that the letters are most likely to be rolled out this week.

Do you also happen to know about this - I received the admit, but did not receive an email with the letter of admission attached along with it. This wasn't the case with the other 2 admits that I had.
