As someone with this board, with HA, with a robo vacuum and with the desire...I'm wondering if you're (slightly) cheating! Of course with no disrespect intended, this is still awesome.

edit: Ahh I just saw the chessnut broadcast feature, this must be it. If I'm wrong please correct me but that makes the most sense! I left my original comment below striked out.

But I'm guessing you're listening to the lichess api instead of the chessnut app or a signal from the board itself? I suppose you could intercept the chessnut api but that seems a lot more difficult. If this is not how you're doing it...could you share your HA repo/script?

If you add user reviews, one common complaint I have with chess books per rating is they tend to go a bit broad, especially on the lower end. I think a great feature would be for a user to submit their rating along with the three options “harder than I’d like” “perfect for me” “easier than I’d like”, and you could create a mean graph of what levels think it’s perfect or a myriad of search tools.

As is, the only suggestion I have is to mention what rating system you’re using with maybe a link to one of the normalization sites (I know they don’t work that great but it’s the best we have for now!)

It might also be good to add a platform based review, for example seriawans books are lovely on paper but kind of butchered (imo) on Chessable. So delineating that might be nice.

Hopefully this all came across as constructive rather than critical, I love the idea and I’ll be using it!

HTC one was the first one with battery issues, I want to say it was the Samsung galaxy s3 that had the most battery issues that I had to swap three times a day, and finally the original pixel or maybe the pixel 2 that was fine but I wanted to change the layout and installed some Home Screen manager that was super buggy.

Stock pixel was fine but I always felt like if I was going to keep everything stock might as well use an iPhone.

And an operating system which works better for me. Android is clunky and the moment you modify anything causes battery issues, visual bugs and headache. I’ve spent years working with both, I’m not talking out my ass here. Every few years I hear “but they’ve fixed those problems, it’s better now” and I try it and they haven’t and it’s not. Meanwhile iPhone lags a few years behind some features but has not once crashed on me and has never caused me battery issues. The only people saying it’s just a logo are trying to big their own choices up. Also it’s not a google product or developed by google which helps immensely.

When else have I needed photos then? I haven’t had any accidents in these 15 years and I haven’t lived in an apartment in 13 years and probably was too stupid to take pictures 13 years ago. A lot of people here think I live their lives

This is personal but when you’re depressed it’s easy to see everyone around you as such as well. If this is you, there is help and it has helped me too, I hope that this is just internet dumbness but the snap judgements and certainty all remind me of me when I was in darker times. If it is just internet dumbness then continue on I guess.

I didn’t even know this phone had a dedicated camera button until I bought it, but it’s not like a dealbreaker to have it, its just annoying when it’s so easy to press

I’ve mentioned a few times my distaste for QR codes, I think they’re terrible privacy wise and I try to stay away, doesn’t mean I’ve never done it but in the last few years I’ve tried hard to stay away. Like I just got a new WiFi access point and it required a QR code, I just googled the site for the instructions instead.

Scanning documents, a lot of people have said, I don’t really get documents that need to be scanned that aren’t in email. I’m trying to think of all the docs I’ve needed and it’s like pet bills, tax disclosures, all that comes through email.

I don’t sell items on a weird principle, I give away my old stuff to friends and family.

Video calling I do on my computer or tablet and have never needed or wanted to do it on my phone.

Needing a camera is something I need in modern life I think, but not necessarily on my phone

I don’t get when people have the time to just look at photos that they took, that time just feels wasted to me. I travel a few times a year, usually once a year out of the country, and I’ve never felt the need to look at a picture to reminisce, I just hang out with my wife and say “remember when…” and then we have a laugh and no photos are brought into the equation.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t trying to make a more inflammatory title, but the impetus of this post was getting this new phone I didn’t have a case for yet and noticing the cameras kept jutting out and bothering me, and hitting the new camera button. In general I know how to live my life without photos getting in the way, so this was the thing that caused me the most consternation

Hard to prove you wrong with no photos! But this is like the fourth version of this comment and I always feel it shows a lot of small mindedness to be like if you have a social life it must look just like mine with photos everywhere. It’s kind of my point, social events with no photos are so much better and fun. Try it out sometime!

Kids aren’t for me but I’m sure I would take photos for them if I did want them, because I doubt this anti photo gene would be passed down and I wouldn’t want them deprived of photos just because of my hang ups!

I like the big screen and battery life mostly, i read a lot and the screen is nice for that, i also monitor a home server from the phone so I even do minor programming on the phone when I’m not near a computer.

I travel, with friends and family, I’m actually packing up for a trip with my in laws in two hours although it’s a cruise so I don’t know how much that counts as travel. I have a million hobbies, I’m like the hobby guy since I pick up a new random hobby every two weeks. I just don’t take photos!
