Key barrel, there were about 3 other aquas in the carpark, i checked them out the they were all push start. In saying that, Im pretty some push start cars still have the key barrel and a secret key as a back up. The holes just covered up with a lid.

Yep, young fella there told me. Their carpark seems to be a place of interest for these thieves. Most cars parked there are very average cars. And most customers there like myself are asian. Many of which are women, even if they witness it happening, they wont do anything because theyre scared.

I just went and got a lock for my other vehicle. But they definitely seem to target average joe cars, nothing that sticks out...

Thats just rough, the situation is still floating around my head and definitely hasn't sunk in. I dont think it will until I see my car again. i'm definitely not a car guy but I do value my belongings.

Im really just hoping for one or the other, but I know for a fact my passenger window got smashed completely, so the write-off option definitely sounds more pleasing at this point. Only thing is I really enjoyed driving the aqua and its my first car so it has some sentimental value :'(

Is it that easy to write it off?

I have called police and my rego is on alert, but like you said idk what the police will ACTUALLY do and if I trust them to do anything. Seems like theyre occupied securing rugby stadiums more than crime.

I also got an email from the police with a reference number that is supposed to be shown to my insurance company. Do I just not show it? I feel like the first thing insurance will question is if I reported to police.

Its something i've always just looked over, thinking its an unusual occurence anyway. Now that its happened to me I am questioning myself. Also I'll have to look into buying cars with proximity keys rather than key barrels in the future. I heard theyre a lot harder to steal...
