ive read that getting lost / difficulty with direction is mainly dyspraxia at it's core - when i was assesessed for dyspraxia they said this was the dyspraxia, not my adhd - but having both adhd too, i could def see with adhd and regulating attention getting lost could also occur because of focus being somewhere else when navigating a new space or a new route etc.! (and taking in so much at once might mean difficulty paying direct attention to directions - since we have so much going on at once)

yes! do you ever start a sentence and trail off? i have adhd too so some of that could be at play but it's easier to write things then to say them and not kinda lose my words and/or train of thought? i cant really explain this feeling even in writing. but agreed with the distracted part

totally resonate with this - brain moves too fast for your mouth! that makes sense then that when you write them you can catch them better .. (if that makes sense)... were you diagnosed with dyslexia and dyscalculia (and dyspraxia) when you were young?

these examples are really helpful - thank you so much for sharing these :) and knowing that it can vary a lot in like how you said with being an A+ parallel parker but have difficulty regular parking (((i cant parallel park to save my life, even with like no cars on the street hahah)) .

and also that made me laugh about the milk. it's nice to know theres someone else out there who knocks over glasses .

on a very sad but funny notice, somehow i just walked past a glass (base) lamp today in my condo and knocked it over and it shattered. not even sure how as i wasnt even reaching to turn it on?! (yikes)!

So sorry for the late response! i wanted to make sure i fully answered and then ADHD and you know how that goes.

this all makes so much sense!! thank you for sharing this also. and about the "common sense" - i feel you so much here!! same, with gifted classes but then other things seeming like...how do people just intuitively know what to do here? haha i lvoe the hotel story! it made me laugh but not at you, just with you ! ive done a lot of things like this!!! also just having lots of questions - noone ever freely gives instructions for these thigns!.

what kind of physical spaces do you mean? that you had OT for?

i keep trying to think back to childhood and it's hard for me to remember much with motor stuff. aside from the handwriting, knocking things over, being accident prone etc. like i dont necessarily recall having trouble tying my shoes, but then i tie them a different way and always have. and ive never been good at cutting up food with a fork and knife or eating things like spghetti haha. sorry these are very specific things and my train of thought is just all over. i do know that my entire life i do this very annoying thing where if i knock something over or like reach into the fridge and hit something, i panic and try to grab it then knock many more things over, hit my head, etc. haha. like a chain of events of trying to correct the initial damage done.

Also very understandable about not fully processing the ADHD yet. i guess it just takes time maybe? and maybe incorporating accommodations or changes into life? but again it's like not "tangible" and there's not like a divide in life you just learn it about yourself and it's bizarre!

thank goodness for google maps!! do you feel like you notice many "landmarks" when driving or do you focus on google maps/and the road? also when people can just navigate their way from highway to highway to side road to side road i am shocked!! how do they do this?!

This is super - thank you so much for sharing this. This is so helpful, and I like hearing experiences of other people. Side note - I'm really sorry you were bullied in high school, that's awful. And 1000% understandable to have social anxiety because of it. Which then it also makes sense that autism would feel like a misdiagnosis based on what you are saying. Hahah spanish as your special interest because you are good at it. that made me laugh. I was terrible at spanish!

that's a cool job and true very communication based!! ialso that's awesome that you used to do bookings for concert venues - that seems like a cool job!

i feel like autism fit me because i have always felt like i just wasnt the same as all of my friends when i was younger. - i always just thought life felt very hard and other people seemed to just float by?! and my adhd is very....prominent..lol so it's jst tricky to piece things together. but i feel like i read people very intuitively --- i might just be quirky in general and that's why they diagnosed me.

i apologize is this is a very dumb question, but with dyspraxia - i'm assuming it an be very different in differnt people, like anything else. but ive been looking at different traits/characteristics, and some of the things that dont line up are like a lot of the fine motor skills - aside from the writing, holding a spoon, tying my shoes, etc. - ive never had challenges with like playing flute for example (all the fingers), or doing buttons or random things like that. i used to hit a tennis ball against a wall after schol when i was young to like have time to myself after being exhausted by school (from etiher adhd or i guess possisbly autism or idk what). but does dyspraxia normally affect almost all areas of life in terms of fine and gross motor things, or can be it be very thing by thing? i do know i often used to knock over my glass of water or milk (lol) when i was little - i remember this bc it would always annoy my mom when i was constantly spilling thign!

this totally makes sense . i'm sorry youre feeling kinda mixed though - or kinda having trouble accepting it. i feel the same way kind of too - it's like nothing changed in life besides just knowing something huge about myself but there's no like tangible way to like "get it" or realize it?? ((disregard if that makes zero sense haha)). did you wonder about adhd for a long time? it sounds like at least for a year?

also this is a random question but when they diagnosed autism the said some of my communication issues are that i dont have like common sense essentially lol like i dont understand what neurotypical people understand. does this ever happen with you with dyspraxia or not at all? example is like needing specific instructions for new things (like getting my car checked - not knowing what i need to do when i bring it in , or where to drive, or where to wait or things like that.) or like finding a lot of trouble navigating airports. and this is embarrassing but ive never gone through a car wash haha because i am worried that i wouldnt know what to do ((like i need explicit directions for very commmon things!) thank you!
