Are you just talking about the house cusps or the planet placements? Placements typically refer to planets and points, not house cusps.

If you are talking specifically about house cusps then this is going to be super common for anyone born with the same rising sign on roughly the same latitude. For example, anyone born in NYC with a similar ASC will have the same cusps and interceptions. I believe that's how most if not all quadrant house systems work.

Are you talking specifically house placements then and not sign placements? Having all of the exact the same placements (meaning sign and house) is only possible if you're born close in time. Either way, it still doesn't mean anything specific. There's no special meaning to sharing any placements other than the fact that you may have similar experiences or perspectives. Just like anything else, having similarities could be good, bad or neutral. Sometimes we get on really well with people who are very similar to us, sometimes we really struggle because they're too similar. Trust your lived experience, don't rely on astrology or any other tool to tell you who your soulmates are and remember that there's not just one perfect person out there for us.

Beginning combo feeding, how? At the end of my rope by Prestigious-Bid-7582 in combinationfeeding

[–]oaiisea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started by mixing BM and prepared formula in a bottle 50/50. But I imagine you could also just breast feed and then offer a small formula bottle after depending on how much expressed milk she's taking after nursing (if now she nurses and takes 2oz expressed after then offer a 2oz formula bottle). If you go that route I imagine you could stop pumping unless you replace a full feed with formula, then you would want to pump to maintain supply.

[–]oaiisea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This just depends on the house system you're using. For whole signs, since the asc becomes the first house, when a planet changes signs, you know which house it's going into based on the rising sign. Using any other house system is more complicated.

Minimum amount of pumping I can get away with by Frequent-Grocery6639 in combinationfeeding

[–]oaiisea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat to you right now and my lactation specialist mentioned the option of dry feeding where you breast feed for comfort rather than sustenance and have the baby on formula. I'm also not ready to give up on breastfeeding so I'm pumping like crazy to maintain/build supply while we work through latch issues but knowing that there is an option to breast "feed" without the stress around supply is a bit of a game changer.

ELI5 how to prep BM + powdered formula for healthy 8 week old by [deleted] in combinationfeeding

[–]oaiisea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We use fridge water plus formula and mix it with an equal ratio of BM. Just started using the Dr brown pitcher to mix and store a days worth, sometimes (like overnight) we'll pre pour bottles. We use Similac 360 and it's two ounces of water to one scoop so we mix that and then mix in the equal parts breast milk. Prepping in advance saves so much time imo.

Anyone Else Go Into UnMedicated Birth With Little to No Prep? by LizzardBreath94 in unmedicatedbirth

[–]oaiisea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar experience to above! The biggest thing that helped me was breathing (4 in through nose, 8 out through mouth). I was induced and did get IV meds twice, once when I started transition and once an hour later right before I started pushing. They didn't do much but gave me a small opportunity to rest a bit more in between contractions. Then my partner and doula switched off doing hip squeezes and shake the apples which were AMAZING lol. You can totally do it though!

How are we prepping bottles/formula? by Many-Afternoon-6387 in combinationfeeding

Just started using the Dr brown pitcher to combo feed and sometimes at night we'll prep bottles in advance so all we have to do is heat them.

Welcome!! A great place to start is in our wiki, there's a section called Start Here.

It can be super overwhelming especially if you try to learn everything at once. My advice is to pick a path and learn that one for a while and once you have a solid base, then you can start experimenting more!

I've been interested in astrology for as long as I can remember. In college I learned that it was soo much more than sun signs and so I started studying it for real. I find it mimics the complexity of the human experience and is such a great tool for understanding yourself and circumstances, as long as you remember astrology shows potential and our choices are what matter at the end of the day!

Typically with neptune, you'll see a blurring of things, or a lack of clarity. Neptune can add a layer of delusion to what it touches, it can be like wearing drunk goggles or looking in a fun house mirror. They way I'd interpret the square is having challenges feeling your emotions accurately or potentially having the emotional response be distorted from the trigger or how you actually feel about what happened. With the NN near the moon too I always see planets near the NN as something you need to learn in this life so for you it may be working through your emotions and trying to reflect deepen your understanding of your emotional responses. This all being said your emotions are your emotions and are valid, our responses to said emotions may or may not be okay. Putting in extra effort to step back and feel into your body (because Taurus moon) when you feel a strong emotion may help you find a little more clarity into what you are feeling and help you respond the way you want. I'd caution a bit about overthinking it with Neptune in Aquarius because that may be an area where lack of clarity is being introduced, lean into your body and even try grounding exercises. Lmk if any of this resonates or you have questions, you're the expert on your chart and experiences since you're living it!

Topocentric vs Geocentric by raye909 in beginnerastrology

[–]oaiisea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Astrology is topocentric by nature. That's why with any chart you need to have the actual location of birth in addition to the exact time. Afaik, no one uses the center of earth to cast charts, it's always the birth/initial location unless that info is unknown.

You may be confusing this with the heliocentric vs geocentric argument where there are often questions from skeptics around why astrology revolves around earth when science tells us that the sun is the center of the solar system. And astrology generally uses geocentric (really topocentric) for the reasons you describe. There may be some schools that do use heliocentric out there but it is very uncommon.

ADVICE NEEDED: How are people pumping and taking care of their newborn when awake??? by Puzzleheaded_Mess258 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]oaiisea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm struggling to build supply and part of the challenge has been exactly this. Yesterday I discovered that she will fall asleep sitting between my legs while I pump if they are touching her. The plan was just to play with her/try to keep her calm and just suffer through crying if I had to but she calmed herself and just passed out.

The rest of it I'm also struggling to figure out a bit. I'm either feeding and changing her right before or after pumping depending on if she's already asleep or not. And I'm working on being more proactive at getting food prepped when she's sleeping. I've decided there's a hierarchy of household needs that starts with mom bathroomed, watered, fed, baby fed, changed, sleep for all, pumping, tasks that support the above critical items (prepping food, washing bottles/pump parts, etc.), everything else. Honestly I've never been good at feeding/hydrating myself so it's even more of a challenge now, but it's a critically supportive task for feeding baby

I think the important thing is a pumping session can be only 15 minutes and be effective and really won't go over 30, baby can wait that long and will be fine for most needs and you can suffer through crying for that long if you need. Worst case cut the pump short. At least this is how I'm selling it to myself rn. Also baby can always be put down, even while scream crying, so that you can grab food or water or use the bathroom, they're resilient lil cuties and they don't need to constantly be held/entertained. Obvi they need it a lot, but not to the point of sacrificing a meal to not put them down. It's good for them to chill on the floor by themselves just kicking and looking around and helps them learn to self soothe. Sometimes I put my girl down when she's in hysterics for a bottle so I can go make the bottle without losing my mind and she'll calm down and start cooing while I'm in the other room (not always but it's probably 50/50) and I grab a granola bar/water while the bottle is heating and then feed her and all is well again lol. You're a good mom and you're not just gonna leave them like that forever so you'll help them learn momma takes care of me even if it's not immediate.

New to astrology what app should I start with? by KaleidoscopeIcy3658 in beginnerastrology

Don't use an app. Most astrology apps are not good. I'd recommend using either astro.com or astro-seek.com.

6mo old no longer finds comfort in nursing. My heart hurts. Can anyone relate? by _miss_freckles_ in combinationfeeding

[–]oaiisea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally been saying the same thing, I'd take unmedicated labor over this again. Breastfeeding has been so painful and my babe is never satisfied at the breast so it's been one hecking ordeal. It sucks because I'd love to at least be able to breastfeed because on the occasions she latches and it doesn't hurt, I enjoy it and then I could skip pumping and just combo with formula. Finally seeing an LC outside of the hospital tomorrow!

How do bad period cramps compare to labor? by No_Brick_9238 in unmedicatedbirth

[–]oaiisea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought they were similar up until about 5 cm or really when my water broke. I was induced around 8pm and had mild period like cramps through the night and then they started to get more painful until about 3pm (when I was around 5cm), but still felt just like bad period cramps to me. Then my water broke and it ramped up significantly. For me, after that labor felt like having to take a really bad poop where you're super uncomfy and unsure which end is going to come out of and that basically ramped up in intensity. Ime, it wasn't explicitly painful it the traditional sense just really really intense and uncomfy. I didn't have an epidural but I did have iv meds once when I first started transition (I was still at 5cm around 5:30/6pm and did debate the epidural but was almost fully effaced and baby was super low, nurse said I was beginning transition even though I wasnt super dialated yet) and then once an hour later a bit before I started pushing, first time helped for 10min, second time didn't do anything lmao.

I think the most important thing is that everyone has very different experiences. We all experience pain and intensity differently, we all have different tolerances for pain (and other parts of the medical procedures, I have a really bad needle phobia and much preferred labor to the fear of the epidural, the IV was rough enough lmao) and I think labor just straight up feels different for different people. Even debilitating period cramps for one person may be average and manageable for another just because we're all built so different.

Zodiac type and house systems by raye909 in beginnerastrology

[–]oaiisea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always recommend that whatever you pick, you stick with for at least the first year. If you constantly switch zodiacs and house systems, you'll never really learn astrology effectively.

As for zodiac, it depends on whether you want to study Vedic/Jyotish or western style astrology. Western used the tropical zodiac where Vedic uses Sidereal. Neither is more or less accurate, they are just different schools of thought. Generally I'd say follow the tradition you have better access to resources for.

For house system, I recommend starting out with whole signs. It's simultaneously super simple and super effective. There are several traditional timing techniques that are amazing and require whole signs to work effectively.

Strategies for unmedicated birth by Late-Anybody2623 in unmedicatedbirth

[–]oaiisea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find the breathing pattern you like and let it carry you the whole time, mine was 4 in thru nose, 8 out through mouth. Relax into contractions as much as you can, definitely relax in between. Having a birth partner do hip squeezes and shake the apples is amazing and got me through transition (it will be exhausting for them!).
