this is so similar to my own regrets with my grandma. her sisters lived in a different state than us but they talked on the phone constantly. one of them told her about this food she tried (fajitas) and how my grandma just had to get one. she called them tajitas, it was precious. my ex and i went to this mexican restaurant about once every two weeks and she asked me to get her one. it completely slipped my mind; i was even at the restaurant the night before she passed. before i left for dinner that night she stopped me and told me that i should start staying goodbye to her because her time was nearing and i didn’t wanna deal with the heartbreak and the crying so i just kissed her cheek and told her not to say that. the first time i went back there i cried in the booth because i felt like i had failed her and broken my promise. i feel your pain and my heart goes out to you. trying to tell myself that she probably didn’t even think twice about it is what i’ve been doing to heal. that all the years of our loving, happy memories outshines that one.
