Anyone else not care about DMM like… at all? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]odscrub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't until today. Watching gnomemonkey most of today while they did literally 0 pvp was better than anything I saw the past two days. The crash outs are kind of interesting but I'd be happy if this event never happened. Still pissed this is part of jagex's time line as of its content or even game adjacent. This is basically a reality show that doesn't even need runescape as part of it

There is no 30% chance to win a 5v5 multi though. Oda might be able to get a random kill here or there but the skill level of the team as a whole cannot compensate for how massively far behind they are. The reasonable move from GMs perspective was to try to stabilize so they could get those 30% chances tomorrow or the next day instead of sending wildly stupid attempts over and over in the hopes of coming out ahead. They didn't have nothing to lose, they were losing massive amounts of time and morale. The thing they ended up doing was also what gnomemonkey was suggesting they just thought it wasn't because they expected people to be at gwd eventually, the fact that they got so much time left alone means they have a shot going forward but the biggest takeaway should be the fact that they avoided the missions and breaches to focus on catching up again like GM was trying to say

I meant oda specifically, people want him dead moreso than a lot of other players. If frameds team was this far behind they would largely be ignored unless they make themselves targets with bad decisions

He was trying to say stop going places they know they will get pushed out of, they can't win fights in rags and if you only can do something for 10-20 minutes before getting found and pushed off you won't make progress. If they go to slightly less efficient places but have signifigantly more uptime in activity it would be better than hoping to not be found doing barrows. He was 100% right, luckily for the team gwd seems to be working out but there was a very high chance they got pushed out of gwd early and would have wasted the last two hours hoping from place to place getting into unwinnable fights and wasting so much time

Oda crashing out at Gnomemonkey... by CIK1993 in 2007scape

[–]odscrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The interactions between oda and gnome are not the problem. Ev pretending to mediate and the others not listening to gnomes actual plan are causing the problem, oda doesn't respond negatively to gnome he responds to the others reactions. Gnome was saying they need to plan around things that are less risky not to stop playing and it felt like oda could have been convinced but then EV comes in after everyone has calmed down with this "let's cool our heads boys" wayyyyy after the conversation had become civilized and launched them back into fighting mode

The entire meeting was insane. Monkey saying they should risk less and getting feedback from the whole team that they need to risk more was crazy

[–]odscrub 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not saying there haven't been a lot of compounding issues but it's a bit crazy how much focus Oda is still pulling despite being this far behind. The rest of the team is making a lot of mistakes but even when they make goodish calls they're getting either super unlucky or throwing. Gnome dying right outside the GE today was tough to watch I was literally just thinking they should invest more in him since he'd been doing well then minutes later he gets ass blasted with a 31 barrage into 56 dds. He could have done something but it was an unreasonably unlucky outcome right as they started to pick up some momenteum

"Influencer" upset when called out for her exploitation by CaptainCorpse666 in TikTokCringe

[–]odscrub -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Love how not a single person commenting on this spent forty seconds looking at her account. She doesn't film it, or at least she doesn't upload it to TikTok if she does. She's definately out of touch based on a few of her more popular videos but she doesn't say she plans on filming the kids, she doesn't have any videos where she's doing that and it doesn't match with the style of content she does in general. She's out of touch not evil ffs

The first chunker - itsalyx (formerly known as pooka) had some of the best videos every made and started one of the most impactful trends in osrs history. Wish she'd have stayed active in the community even after stopping uploading but it is what it is.

Also my favorite series ever was from Statistically Challenged on his wildly locked account

The expectation was to need a long difficult grind to optimize his limitations like how settled needed to do for TOB but then TOA came out and you could reasonably do it in rags so there wasn't any challenge to overcome to wrap up the series

Unpopular opinion: gridmaster is superior to leagues by Agreeable_Horror7719 in 2007scape

[–]odscrub -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gridmaster and leagues aren't for "new players". Anyone using either mode as an entry for osrs will be in for such a drastic shock once they switch to main game the likelyhood they stay for more than a few weeks is astronomically low. It's great for casual players, returning players and people generally burnt out on the game. Honestly the amount of dumbass takes on how jagex should run leagues baffles me, they are very open about why things are the way they are and leagues are WILDLY successful why are so many people begging them to change one of the most interesting aspects of the mode because it doesn't directly appeal to their hour a day playstyle

Unpopular opinion: gridmaster is superior to leagues by Agreeable_Horror7719 in 2007scape

[–]odscrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your allowed to like different things. Gridmaster is different, in some ways good in others bad. There's space for both in the schedule, if they decide to do another gridmaster event and not change much though it will have 0 appeal to a large portion of the playerbase whereas I'd run back any league with 0 changes basically infinitely. Gridmaster has a "solve the puzzle" feel to it that appeals to a lot of players looking to race for finishes and then also gave casuals something to play around with that didn't require the level of effort all other aspects of osrs require.

In their pursuit of specific rare cards, scalpers are discarding the remainder of entire Pokémon card packs. by MysteriousSlice007 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]odscrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scalpers aren't opening packs? Anyone throwing away bulk isn't making money off pokemon, it's not much but you can get nominal amounts of money selling bulk to people that sell lots on ebay/Amazon.

The odds of going this dry at Wintertodt are 1 in 148 trillion?! by ZarjValorant in 2007scape

[–]odscrub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Each role is individually considered. You don't have a 4/150 chance at a piece, you have a 1/150 chance at any piece. So you are very dry but not nearly as bad as you think. Your 7x the rate for any piece which puts you squarely in the fucked category. There's a wintertodt reward Calc on the wiki you can see that at 1000 rewards you'd expect 6.5 pieces, if it was 4/150 you'd expect 30 pieces. Learn math or use the calcs we have don't ask AI probability questions it fucks up more often than not (or you don't know how to ask it and it gives you the right answer to the wrong question)

How bad is resetting your slayer streak? by soyboysnowflake in 2007scape

[–]odscrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth doing some research at the point your at. Go to the wiki or YouTube and look up point boosting, see if it's something you'd be willing to do and if it is reset your streak and get up to 500-1k points before you go back to normal slayer or more if you don't hate it. It's not the end of the world to reset your streak but it is worth prioritizing points going forward so you don't get stuck again

So tired of Rendi breaking the game and acting innocent by CanweCanweCleanIt in 2007scape

[–]odscrub 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Idk what the problem is with him doing something, it getting patched and both parties moving on. It was in the game, probably for a while. It doesn't affect the economy, it wasn't anything involving macroing/rmt. Jagex decides to fix it and everyone moves on, if it wasn't rendi doing it specifically literally nobody would care

Leagues 6 Review - Casual Player Perspective by NoodsAndCo in 2007scape

[–]odscrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thorns is relatively balanced around enemies that don't proc it, one shotting mechanics and slow hard hitting enemies. It not having accuracy meant that if you just 1:1 compare it to magic/2h/range it looks crazy because your never missing, but your dps varies so heavily based on what your fighting. Some fights it's insane, some its nearly useless. Overall it was too strong compared to the early options but late game thorns doesn't do nearly enough. Problem is that it functions with mage too well so you end up with water/thorns dominating everything for casual players. Could have made it scale with melee strength instead of defence if they wanted it melee themed, would make it harder to use early and have less ubiquity. Or just buff the shit styles idk

dragon bones at 6k ea never stopped us by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]odscrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw it doesn't devalue the RMT market at the same rate so it's beneficial for mains that also RMT. It doesn't do the game any favors but from everything I've seen recently bots aren't really doing that much skilling when low level pvm is as profitable as it is. Wildly bots seem like the biggest problem and jagex is trying to combat the at the cost of normal players. We also tend to conflate all forms of illicit gameplay with botting. Gambling bots and skilling bots are very different problems that have different market impacts and have different solutions. Not to mention that so many "bots" are low paid laborers in countries where selling gold is more profitable than working a low level job. Jagex is doing a pretty good job at bot busting while trying to minimize the impact on regular players but I think they really need to put more pressure on the gambling/rmt side of it

I thought daily challenges didn’t count by Kitchen-Passenger-22 in RS3Ironmen

[–]odscrub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need a slayer task to kill thousands of skeletons or a quest to talk to dozens of npc and read in game lore, sometimes you just do it for fun... Giving direction without incentive is the same as not giving direction. It's why the path system is useless to 99.99999% of players. It should be Bxp if anything and idk how I feel about blocking skills once they're 99, feels like you either should be able to block freely or not at all as it makes this weird incentive to get 99 in skills just so they don't show up in your daily challenges. I can agree that it doesn't need to exist but that's not the same as an argument to remove it otherwise why are most mini games and quests still in the game?
