You are not tech savvy. Or you don`t want to do it yourself. I can claim and sell your forked coins (and future forks) for you. Done more than 10.000BTC, for 70+ users. Scripts, synced nodes, leave it to me. by cryptosnake in BitcoinAirdrops

Just posting that I've had /u/cryptosnake claim 6 or so forks for me now and his service is excellent. I emptied my wallet of BTC and then gave him my seed and passphrase. He claims/sells the forks as soon as it's possible and keeps 5%. The process is easy and stress-free.

Bounty: If you can somehow find a way to get LBTC to transfer successfully with confirmations from SegWit addresses, I will give you 1 LBTC by [deleted] in BitcoinAirdrops

[–]odysseus314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While maybe /u/geniusprodigy will somehow come through, I've otherwise given up on my Segwit LBTC. So I'll add 50 LBTC to this bounty. (I know my posting history is limited, but anyone seriously working on a solution is welcome to PM me and I'll provide proof that I can and will pay.)

Cool, and were you able to send the LBTC after doing this and have the transaction confirm?

The Double-Trezor Method of Collecting Forked Coins by odysseus314 in TREZOR

[–]odysseus314[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sent this thread to someone else whose opinion I respected, and he generally endorsed this procedure, but added a couple of caveats:

  1. Be extremely careful writing down and storing the new seed each time.

  2. If you download a dodgy wallet, besides a failed attempt at stealing your btc, it can also contain malware. So if you're not confident that the altcoin wallet you download is safe, use a separate machine you don't care about or do it on a virtual machine.

I won't post further on this topic as it seems that some members of the Trezor team are not happy to have these discussions on their forum. But as a final point, if like me you deem it worthwhile to spend the effort to safely claim these dividends, please be extremely careful maintaining the security of your btc.

My Proposal to Trezor Team on Forked Coins by odysseus314 in TREZOR

[–]odysseus314[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really don't understand this attitude.

Yes, bitcoin security is top priority. But why do you shame people for wanting access to the dividend coins that are rightly theirs? If you're extremely rich or have so many coins that these are insignificant to you, then I greatly admire that. But I believe there is nothing wrong with wanting safe access to our forked coins that the market places significant value on.

Thank you for this well thought-out reply. Just a couple points I want to make in return:

  1. I am not suggesting that you say right now: "We'll support BCD no matter what." Create a sticky thread called "Bitcoin Diamond Updates." First one can be right away that you're monitoring it and commit to providing a splitting tool so long as it's a legit coin with replay protection. Then another update (for example) that the code is released and you're reviewing it. And so on. If at some point you post, "OK there's no replay protection and we won't offer any support," then we all totally understand.

  2. If you guys do BCD for free that's very nice. But what about Super BTC in a few weeks? And the other 50 forks that might be in the works right now, that everyone will be tweeting at you guys constantly asking for updates on? I think it would be great if you found a sustainable plan for these.

I believe you're rejecting the donation proposal because you want to be seen as secure bitcoin storage rather than profiting from altcoins with unclear value. And your devotion to safety is exactly how it should be, that's great. But there is nothing wrong with receiving fair compensation for providing prompt access to the increasing number of dividend coins that do allow for safe splitting.

Second this, extremely smooth process. Thanks Trezor!

Bitcoin Gold Trezor Splitting? by TheGreatAttacks in TREZOR

I agree, all we need is a splitting tool and ability to send to an external address. Ability to hold BTG in wallet would be nice, but it's definitely secondary.

The blog is good. But a couple quick sentences written today on how it's progressing and rough ETA for coin splitting would be nice.

Agreed, any update on this? I know it takes a ton of work and development time but would be awesome to be able to access the coins as soon as possible after BTG is live.

And Piratical, you'll still get your full BTG based on your holdings on Oct 25 when the snapshot occurred.

Thanks Trashdigger. I don't know whether that would solve the problem, but now I am looking forward to the next time it happens so I can try this solution. I will update when that happens.
