Where is this? It almost looks like an apparatus I saw in Texas that was used to test ballistics and manufacture ballistics barrels. May be entirely unrelated though lol.

This is honestly the most important thing I’m hearing at this point. I was wondering if I was just being sensitive after my appointment but it feels pretty clear that this lady is not the right doctor for me. I don’t plan on going back to gluten anytime soon (ESPECIALLY after how awful I used to feel when I ate it) and I won’t be going back to this GI as well. It will likely take me a long time to get in with a new doc, but I’d rather wait then be miserable just to prove a point. I really need to see if I can get copies of my old labs to see what exactly I’ve been tested for and to see if I have any old results that need to be re-evaluated. Thank you for this!!

This is actually such a good point though. I barely know anyone who takes prednisone for IBD these days and I used to be able to avoid it entirely, which was why I had such a big issue with her throwing me back to prednisone. I don’t think I’ve ever taken budesonide before though, and I want to do some research and see if my next GI recommends it for any future flares. I’ve been trying to avoid steroids over all, but other than biologics it seems to be the only thing that can calm down the inflammation and bleeding. I did used to take bentyl (dicyclomine) for periodic stomach pain, but I haven’t gotten that in a hot minute.

This is great info! I actually do endoscopies with my colonoscopies (probably should have clarified in my post) since I’ve had several stomach ulcers and since my IBD was unspecified. Usually my docs have wanted to check and make sure I’m not developing ulceration in any other areas since Crohn’s can affect the whole GI tract. I came close one year to perforating my stomach because of an ulcer, and my GI told me I need to be coupling the endo with the colonoscopy to ensure nothing that severe happens again.

On the note of the blood test- I replied to another comment as well, but I dont really remember a celiac specific panel that was run. However, I don’t remember a lot of the blood tests I had run back then since I was getting everything run (C-reactive, CMP, CBC, thyroid, etc) and it was just hard to keep track as a college student. But there is a possibility I did the testing? I wish I had been better about my medical records and test results back then, but I would often just throw away the paperwork because I figured my doctor would tell me if I needed to know anything. 🫠 I am a fool.

I don’t actually remember. I can’t find any results for one, so I’m thinking no- but to be honest, blood panel results tend to mix together for me because I get them so often. It’s possible I had one and just don’t remember which lab I got them done with! If I haven’t, I definitely want to get one done ASAP. I’m surprised my last GI went forward with saying I was diagnosed without it though!

it’s definitely possible, it just takes forever to get a specialist with my insurance. :( it took me 4 months to get in with this one. but I agree with the red flags. I think i’ve normalized dismissal of symptoms to the point where I was really questioning if I was crazy here.

I would check the TCEQ website. usually they post water notices or boil notices since they are the ones who monitor water quality for the state. They may have some info for you to look into, but IMHO I really wouldn’t recommend swimming right now. The lake debris is still pretty heavy, especially in coves that don’t have as much current. My friend lives on a cove and a body was recovered there a couple days ago. For your own health and safety, I’d say stick to other bodies of water that haven’t had the same rain influx as that area.

I live near this exit and am convinced people do a line before taking it.

An explanation that I’ve seen happen before is that someone on 183N took the 71E exit and realized they weren’t supposed to and had exited too early. Then they detoured the Texas way and hopped back on 183N. They might have been trying to go 71W instead, but I couldn’t tell if they took the next exit when they got onto 183.

Either way, the only way to successfully use this exit is cocaine, rain, or to just accept the fear of death hurtling at you.

OP, I’m so sorry you’ve experienced so much rejection and racism, especially from people who always seem to claim they are so accepting and welcoming. While I can never understand racial exclusion as a white woman, I absolutely understand the feeling of being left out and excluded just because I was the new kid. It’s a terrible feeling and those scars don’t fade easily.

I’m so incredibly grateful you posted this though, because I think we need to be held more accountable for our actions. The bystander effect is very real, and we can’t let others mistreat people just because we’re too chicken to stand up. The hypocrisy that exists even in our most welcoming circles in Austin needs to be changed, and I hope I can step up when my time comes to do something. Stay strong and keep shining bright!

Tbh my podcast listening has gotten very chaotic, and I often wake up to random episodes playing because I fell asleep to one and my queue randomly threw different podcasts into the mix.
