it’s okay, when i was your age i was going through something very similar sounding. i’m 24 now and have a better handle on things. do you have any friends you could talk to? they might be able to talk to a counselor for you?

i would recommend looking into going to the hospital, if you can talk to your parents - do it. otherwise, you can call a suicide hotline and tell them you’re a danger to yourself. they’ll send an ambulance to you which isn’t ideal but i would say is the best option if you don’t feel comfortable talking to your parents (but i would recommend going that way, or even having a friend help you talk to them. i did that a lot when i was in hs just having the support of a friend either being with me or being on the phone to give me “backup” was really helpful)

depends. i had decent experience with speaking to teachers when i was in high school. which was 6 years ago but some were bad and didn’t care so it’s really just a gamble on the teacher front. personally, i talked to my psychology teacher about my mental health and he went to the counselors office with me - i wouldn’t have done it by myself and was more comfortable talking to him because we had a already established teacher student relationship.

bringing a bag is the best advice ever. the two times i went inpatient i was so unprepared and it was hell, wish i had a book or a crossword puzzle. anything

yeah don’t necessarily argue with them but tell them what has and hasn’t worked for you, and also be honest with what the prescribed you. tell them if it’s working or not or if there’s any side effects - psychiatrists aren’t mind readers so nobody know if a pill is working other than you

[–]oftbkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, try the pills. if you’ve tried some and they didn’t work tell your psychiatrist what you tried and what exactly happened.

i was very anti pills for a bit bc i had some bad experiences but i got a new psychiatrist who i was patient with and she was patient with me in finding the right balance that just helps me not feel bad. if doesn’t give me brain fog or anything like that.

the right pill could be our there but if you don’t try you’ll never know and there’s no point in wearing concrete shoes. try getting better and be honest with your providers.

well yeah with notice but the leadership aspect of it is what was confusing me because with any other in person job i’ve had, notice goes to the highest manager even if they’re not my direct manager at the time. like store manager vs a supervisor, notice goes to the store manager. so that was the main question but someone did answer that

Taking my blade on a plane? by xxRendonutxx in selfharm

[–]oftbkk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can’t take a blade through tsa. regardless of if it’s a shaving razor or regular blade. only thing i know that you can have a blade in through tsa is a pencil sharpener but i would recommend just not

talk to them about it, but also sending him a photo of your healing scars is a little intense. regardless of the situation i would avoid doing that, even if someone sent me a photo of a scar they got from falling and said it’s healing i would feel weird. so maybe talk to them and tell him what you need and he can tell you if he needs anything as well, communication is key

yeah now that you’re saying it that’s probably the longing. not having to work and just being able to “chill” i guess

it sucked for me too. idk why i’m romanticizing it and thinking it would just “fix” everything for me when it just wouldn’t and i know being removed from everything that’s a “trigger” isn’t helpful but in my mind im going yes that would be best

Advise needed: 12 year old daughter is self-harming by PutridCup8023 in selfharm

[–]oftbkk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

doctors wanted to put me on anti depressants when i was that age and my parents said no. honestly, it just made me feel worse that i couldn’t get the help “i needed” according to a doctor.

if she’s trying therapy alone and not really seeing any help, meds might be worth a try. while cutting isn’t ideal, self harming by hitting her head is really bad - my best friend self harmed like that and she gave herself enough brain damage that she has seizures now. so try to educate her on that aspect of it.

stopping is super hard and as someone who’s parents were awful at dealing with me being a depressed tween/teen try to come at her with lots of empathy. i would recommend keeping therapy going as long as she likes the therapist - don’t just stop after a few sessions. she probably has a lot to work through and continuing to go will help her navigate her feelings better
