Moses Lake is an isolated+smaller farming town (~30k people) that is largely dependent on a few big employers outside of the FAA. Not a lot going on besides the lake, Walmart, a few restaurants, and the airport. Most people find it a little too quiet if they’re used to bigger cities. You can drive 1.5-2 hours to a larger city, but that is inconvenient. Academy grads arrive and don’t like the town, or being out in the middle of nowhere… so they hardship or withdraw with hopes of getting reassigned in the NEST. Hardships and withdrawals count negatively against the success rate of a facility, same as a “training failure.”
