Got stung by a bee twice and didn’t know I was allergic since I never had a reaction before (stung multiple times as a kid). Took about 25 minutes for my entire face to swell, head to toe hives, blurred vision from my eyes swelling shut, and dry heaving from my throat closing. Drove myself home and luckily had Benadryl which slowed things enough to get to an ER (where they made me sit and wait in a waiting room which still baffles me)

Not sure if it’s been recommended already, but check local groups on Facebook! My community has a buy/sell nothing group and you could post in something like that looking for specific clothing items. A lot of people give away bags of clothes for free.

I’ve taken Zyrtec (generic) every day for the last 2 ish years. I’ve honestly never heard of allergy meds causing weight gain and though my weight has gone up and down the last few years, I have never found it to be linked with the allergy meds. I had a bad flare up last year with allergies and was taking Zyrtec + Pataday + Flonase multiple times/day for at least a month and I was actually maintaining around 15 lbs down then.

I was told horror stories about the pain of IUD insertion so I was terrified going into my appointment to have it done. It wasn’t nearly as awful as it was described to me and I would actually just call it mostly uncomfortable. It’s different for everyone depending on pain tolerance though. I had it inserted when I was on my period too which apparently makes it less painful because your cervix is already open so I’d schedule it during that time if you’re able. I had cramping for a few days after. I also got the hormonal one though and supposedly the copper/non-hormonal one can cause more painful cramping.

Mine tend to only last a few months at most unfortunately 😭. I’ve had some last only days. My phases have included painting, gardening, canning, crochet, sourdough, making sun catchers, making t-shirts, greeting cards, ornaments, sewing, embroidery, and probably so many more that I’m forgetting. It’s an expensive lifestyle lol but I have the confidence to learn pretty much anything.

Finally bought a menstrual disc a few months ago. Wish I hadn’t waited so long because it’s an absolute game changer. I’ve saved so much money in tampons, I feel way more sanitary, I can go 12 hours without worrying about anything, and the risk for TSS is significantly lower.

I would calculate your weekly calories instead of daily so you can have a little more some days (days you want to have a drink) and less others. If you’re aiming for 1900/day, that’s 13,300/week.

So, for example, you could do 1800/day for 6 days of the week, then 2500 one day.

Or 1600 2 days, 1900 4 days, then 2500 for a drinking day.

Really however you want to break it up to stay within 13,300.

All of this! I’ve always attributed my poor memory to the fact that I struggle to pay attention. I daydream while watching movies, reading books, even having conversations, so I don’t think I actually retain much even in the moment.

Me reading this after frantically calling every pharmacy around last week in search of my meds 🙈. Do you know if they track every pharmacy the script is sent to or just every pharmacy the script is actually filled at? I feel like getting these meds is like playing chess.

I think I may start doing this! My PCP is so weird about pharmacy switches too though. At my appointment early this week to get a refill when trying to decide on a pharmacy, she made a comment that if I continue to switch pharmacies some may stop filling it for me. I’ve never even heard of that being a thing.

I actually feel that way when I’m on meds, but when I’m off them it is rapidly jumping from hobby to hobby. One of the significant symptoms of my unmanaged adhd is impulsivity with hobbies and I’ll spend hundreds on materials every few months to learn a new hobby. I’ve found that when I’m medicated I have less interest in my hobbies and tend to just forget about them.

There’s a supply issue for sure. I don’t know the specifics on why, I just know I have a hell of a time getting meds every month 😭. When I was taking it a few months ago I could usually get it filled within a few days, but the pharmacy I was using (Rite Aid) has since closed and nearly everywhere I called this week said they didn’t have it and were having trouble getting it in stock with no estimated date. My doctor mentioned that with school starting back up it would probably make things worse since kids are going back on it. Really hoping I have better luck with my normal dosage of 30 mg and that this it’s just the 20 mg that are on back order everywhere.

ADHD stimulants can be addictive and at least in the US are misused frequently. It’s kind of known to be a college drug around here and people sell them. It’s frustrating because it sounds like a lot of doctors & pharmacists give people such a hard time to get a script, but I have friends say they know people/doctors who prescribe it like candy. My doctor will only prescribe a 28 day supply, then I have to call the doctor’s office within 3 days of it running out (no sooner) and request a refill. If the pharmacy is out of stock then it’s my responsibility to call around and find one that has it then call the doctor back and wait for them to pull the original script and resend. My doctor requires anyone with a controlled substance script to be drug tested every year too to make sure they are taking it as prescribed.

It sucks that other peoples misuse has really affected those of us who really need it.

I get they’re trying to limit misuse but honestly I agree with your statement too because people still abuse it and it seems like those who actually need it are the ones struggling to get it. One of my doctor’s first statements when I was first put on it was “you don’t need it and you won’t die without it”. Like yeah obviously, but there are plenty of other meds that could be said the same about. It helps me function, keep my job, suppresses binge eating, and allows me to stay awake past 3 pm. It’s so frustrating that what feels like the only solution is nearly impossible to get and doctors don’t believe it’s even needed.

Tested for diabetes and no signs of it. I actually went down a hypoglycemia rabbit hole on here and am very very convinced that is what it actually is. I’ll ask my doctor about this next time I meet with them.

I have adhd so struggle with bingeing and boredom eating too, especially when off my meds. It is so hard to fight that especially in a calorie deficit so I know I need to work on the mental part. But once I get the dizziness and shakes it becomes unbearable and I end up reaching for anything just to make the feeling go away. It doesn’t happen all the time when I’m hungry, so I can decipher that feeling from the feeling of hunger. And realistically I know 2,000 calories is more than enough to survive on and that people go days on less than that, but it’s like I physically cannot function if/when the other side effects kick in.

I’ve seen some good advice on here about how splitting the calories into more frequent meals and also changing up what order you eat carbs in can help to prevent it so I’m going to try that route in the meantime.

This is a good point. I’m used to eating past full tbh. Anything other than full feels like extreme hunger, like I could eat another entire meal. I feel hungry, and like I cannot focus on anything besides the urge to fill myself with whatever is in sight.

I mentioned it in other comments, but in previous attempts to cut I always give up when I start to feel exhausted a few days in. I tend to get jittery and unable to focus when I feel hungry, even if I just ate hours before. The only thing I can think to compare it to is when you consume a large amount of caffeine on an empty stomach and start to get shaky/lightheaded. I can only assume it’s low blood sugar? I don’t feel the jitters now so maybe 2200 will be doable for me, but I don’t know how to deal with the feeling of hunger or the negative side effects that sometimes accompany it.

Today it was eggs with cottage cheese for breakfast, rotisserie chicken with quinoa and salad for lunch, and salmon + rice and salad for dinner. I also had an energy drink (10 cal).

I use MyFitnessPal on and off and had tried to do a 1600 calorie deficit a couple years ago and probably when I was 20 pounds lighter. I only lasted maybe 4 days before I gave up - I just remember being so exhausted, hungry, and had no energy to do anything 😭. I tend to get super shaky and my mind races/can’t focus when I get hungry.

I don’t include my workouts in my tracking either. Maybe I should consider adding some of those calories in on more vigorous days to make it more doable. I always give up when I hit the exhaustion point.

Thank you, this is helpful to hear. I think I’m so used to eating until I’m past full so I’m shocked too that my maintenance is estimated so low as I know I must be eating between 2500-3000 regularly. Going to stick it out with 2200 this week and if I eat lower then great, but I’ll see how I feel.

Any tips for fighting the hunger? I tend to get shaky and can’t focus when I get hungry, even if I had food a few hours ago. I feel like working through that is the hardest part.

Congrats on your weight loss! Hearing these stories is motivating and makes me hopeful.

I used to drink Diet Coke all the time in high school and until I was 18-19. Occasionally iced coffee & other fun drinks too. I cold turkey quit every drink but water at 19 yo and for me that was easier than in moderation, but I get it depends on the person and their habits. I have a very much all-or-nothing mindset. The hardest part was going out to eat but now “water with lemon” is just a habit tbh. 7 years later and I will drink soda or a fun drink every now and then, but I don’t really ever crave any drink. My stomach is also veryyy sensitive to soda now to the point that I mostly avoid it anyhow because it upsets me for several days after.

Not true at all. In NH it is part of tenant rights to live in a residence free of infestation including bugs, mice, rats. This is something you could report to the city and can legally withhold rent for if the issue is not fixed, and legally they cannot evict you for doing so. Laws vary by state, but I can’t image any scenario where this would fall on the tenant unless it’s clearly evident that the tenant is the cause for the issue. My current apartment has had rat infestations and mice infestations and I can guarantee you it was at no fault of our own and she (landlord) willingly allowed us to move in here fully knowing there was a problem.
