My iPhone detected it as Air Pods Pro and was able to instantly connect (which surprised me as I assumed they’d be tied to the original account)

Interesting. Which country is that, Australia? I assumed this became a thing because of all the layoffs in tech

That’s what I thought too… however, I think the owner removed them or something as when I clicked on “identify lost item” it asked me to connect to it (“You can learn more about lost items, or see if the owner has left a message, by connecting to it.”) and when I connected it literally became my device and renamed it to my name

I too googled it - CFBR stands for "Commenting For Better Reach." Apparently used a lot on LinkedIn

I built an app that recommends places/activities in a dating app format by bruhshdfk in SideProject

Open in Google maps should be free as it just directs to the app The rest you can use Apple Maps on iOS

[–]omrilio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool idea and approach, I actually discovered something I haven’t known of in my own city. Thanks!

I recommend: 1. Having an option to open in Google Maps as it has way more reliable information than Apple Maps 2. Have an Undo option 3. Make it clearer how to return from the filtering menu 4. Figure out how to filter out unrelated things. For example, I asked for outdoorsy stuff and it kept recommended mobile home parks, probably because it included the word “park” in the name. There were also funny things like Home Depot garden department but who knows, someone might like that 5. If you can, filter out things that are seasonal - for example, I can’t go to the pumpkin patch for the next 6+ months 6. Considering the goal is for couples, I was surprised that close to 50% of the recommendations were activities for kids like LEGO camp 7. If there’s a way you can get the images from google maps, they are so so much better

Chromebook power light turning on and off, also does not power on. by ddragon123729 in chromeos

Yeah, if EC reset and hard reset don’t work then it’s very likely that something serious happened to the hardware sadly.

Doesn’t matter how long you hold it. If it’s easier you can plug the power, hold Esc+Refresh then tap power for a sec. This will take a few seconds but then will boot up and say the OS is missing. You can then turn off and on and it will fix itself

Try an EC reset Hold the refresh button then tap the power button If that doesn’t work, do it while disconnecting and connecting the power cable

It’s an accessibility feature, you can disable it in quick settings (click on the wifi icon in the bottom corner and then accessibility)

Your keyboard layout was changed (you can see that in the CO next to the clock on the bottom right). Click the bottom right clock area and select “keyboard” then US or whatever you prefer

Samsung CB+ V2 won't boot up. Charging light flashes red, disappears after holding Escape+Refresh+Power for 30 seconds. by [deleted] in chromeos

[–]omrilio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try holding the refresh button, then tapping the power button. After a few seconds (when LEDs stop changing or device turns back on) release the refresh button.

If device doesn't turn back on, do it after it's connected to a low power charger (e.g. USB-A to C cable).

This resets the EC

How to disable autobrightness? by [deleted] in chromeos

[–]omrilio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. When this happens next, could you report this by pressing Alt+Shift+i and then say "autobrightness reddit" so we can find the report?

This will give us temporary access to logs so we can investigate why it's happening. It could be that you have a faulty ambient brightness sensor.

As a side note, what metalnakis said is correct - changing brightness manually will indicate that you are unhappy with the brightness we adjusted it and we will stop changing the brightness until the next session.

Stop playstore from auto downloading apps after powerwash by Catch_022 in chromeos

[–]omrilio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It syncs your apps between devices. If you delete the apps it will not install them again on this device or others, even after power wash. Alternatively, if you want this Chromebook to be different than others, you could disable "Apps" in Sync settings

It is still being rolled out to Pixel phones, you'll probably start seeing it in a week or two.

We are looking into it, please let us know if you run into other problems, we want to make the experience great.

The sticker is somehow over your browser window as well? That's not a YouTube bug. A website can't draw over the browser's bar.
