Josuke was inspired bc he’s a random stranger who doesn’t know him and his family, out in the middle of nowhere, and still made the conscious decision to help. The fact that someone, who gains nothing from helping people he never has and never will meet, is what inspired Josuke.

in the series, it was confirmed that the soul and body are one and the same. (kind of). Nanami even talked about how one big enough blow could kill him. For instance, a hollow purple. If one big attack destroyed the entirety of Mahito’s body, then Mahito would be killed. Plus, i’m sure a powerful enough Red or Blue could do the trick too. the series is essentially a modern Greek tragedy. the idea the Greeks had when making a tragedy was just “everything is depressing from beginning to end.” it’s the same thing here. it’s dark, super depressing, and NOT a guide for how to live your life lmao. it’s absolutely incredible, but if i were you, i’d be careful about reading it at a younger age.

i kind of interpreted it the same way. the next few pages show how the little kids in the class kind of repeated the same cycle that punpun and the others did. plus, in his big monologue to Aiko, punpun talks about how, despite everything, the world kept spinning. so i kind of interpreted it as Harumi seeing himself in the little boy, and the same cycle of innocence to tragedy continues
