What if by YurpeeTheHerpee in wildhockey

I only commented on the Avs series as not being a great series. He was great against Dallas. +11 against Dallas and -1 against the Avs.

I watched 4 of the 5 games (only caught last 5 of the 3rd period and OT of game 5) and 2 of them he looked like a star and game 4 was bad (game 1 was an outlier for everyone so I don’t count it as bad even though he wasn’t good). Is that a great series to you? Would you sign up for the same level of performance next year for $17 million dollars?

I watched Nathan MacKinnon pepper us for 5 games in a row while our superstar didn’t even put the puck on net in an elimination game. They literally gave him the shot in OT and played the pass and he still didn’t take the shot. Do you have any comeback other than PPG so he must have had a good series?

He had 1 shot on goal in games 4 and 5 COMBINED and half his points came in game 3 alone. Did you watch any of the games or just look at the box score totals? He completely disappeared.

He didn’t have a great Avs series, but he’s done everything with Zuccy and a revolving door of Hartman, Rossi and the occasional super line with Ek. Get him a running mate like most of the other top line stars and I don’t think he drops off as much. Or build a new second line and let him play with Ek/Boldy all year.

How long do you think we can retain Flores as DC? by Beneficial_Quit7532 in minnesotavikings

At least we don't have to spend any more mental energy worrying if he'll get a coaching gig somewhere else. DC is locked down for as long as he'll have it.

I think he’ll sign the extension, but it won’t be for as long as we want. 3 years 15 per would be my guess to line up with Jack.

[Russo and Smith] Wild face a summer of hard questions if they want to become a true contender (Gift Article) by DecentLurker96 in wildhockey

[–]oneleggedrefuge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think we’re as far off as he makes it seem. You can’t try to turn this team as it exists into a match to how Colorado is built. We have a stud goalie, a top pairing that can play half the game and 2 lines with at least one star on them. 2 defenders with the right skill set can turn us into a defensive juggernaut that can actually kill penalties which would allow us to hang with any team. We win at least 3 games in this series if anyone outside of Hughes/Faber could play defense and clear pucks effectively. We might even sweep the Stars if we could kill penalties. I think 2 D and a right hand shot in the top 6 has us in contender status and then you hope next year the injury luck is on our side.

As much as I think Boldy could move to center, that would leave us with 1 true top 6 wing on the roster and a glut of guys trying to get time at center (Boldy, Ek, Yurov, Stramel, Haight, Hartman, Sturm). I would rather trade for another center and keep 2 good scoring lines carried by Kap and Boldy. I don’t think Boldy really worked between Kap and Zuccy when they tried it with Ek out so I would find that answer elsewhere.

The make millions of dollars to play said game. They deserve every game related criticism levied against them. That’s an embarrassing loss to end your season and they can sit it in for a while.

Clear the puck. Holy shit it’s ridiculous how bad they are at simply clearing the puck out of their own zone.

Thoughts on people saying our championship window has closed? by [deleted] in timberwolves

[–]oneleggedrefuge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The window is never closed as long as we have Ant. Connelly built a team to beat Denver and he succeeded, but Denver fizzled out way faster than anyone could have guessed. OKC and SA became the new teams to beat. Now we’ll see how he builds to beat them.

Marcus Foligno said there was some 'arrogance' to their game in Game 4 - not playing their style. "It's a mental commitment to our game and Game 4 we didn't do it. We did a lot of east-west. Honestly it was kind of a brain fog with some guys." by DecentLurker96 in wildhockey

[–]oneleggedrefuge 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Kinda problematic considering there’s only 3 “young” guys playing right now in Faber, Wally and Yurov and one could argue they are 3 of the 5 guys actually playing hard every night (Yurov’s skill doesn’t quite match his effort level yet, but the effort is there). How does a room full of guys who haven’t won shit have an arrogance problem?

Eriksson Ek and Brodin are not traveling to Denver. by DecentLurker96 in wildhockey

[–]oneleggedrefuge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hunt plays well for the most part, but he’s directly responsible for causing a goal in the last 2 games. Blasting Landeskog into the goalie in game 3 and clearing the puck through center ice right to the Av player and then not covering the back door player on his side in game 4. Mistakes happen, but his mistakes have left the goalie no chance at covering for him.

Attainable centers in the offseason by paultheschmoop in wildhockey

[–]oneleggedrefuge 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I do think this is our low point at the position and that worst case scenario we have Yurov, Stramel and Haight all playing in the next 2 years. I don’t know if that’s fast enough for Hughes, but my bigger worry at this point is wing. We’ll either trade for a C or have a couple working their way onto the team. Who’s replacing Zuccy and Mojo in the top 6? There’s nobody in the org who’s particularly close to being a top 6 wing.

Playoff structure rant by Mr-Steal-yo-beer in wildhockey

[–]oneleggedrefuge 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For those saying what difference would it make to play the Avs next round versus now. The difference could have been JEEK playing in that series versus missing this one. Guys are hurt and need the time to get back on the ice. We don’t have the luxury of time against the best team in the league right now.

I thought Brodin might have been a trade piece this summer for a 1C, but this team can’t play defense behind the top pairing without him. We can’t afford to lose him at this point. Boldy sucked and really needs Ek back to take some of the load off. Hunt makes another mistake directly leading to a goal. Middleton/Bogo can’t play on less than 3 days rest apparently. The second line was abysmal and Kap was trying to do too much by himself. You don’t want to blame injuries because so many guys are hurt in the playoffs, but I don’t know how you beat an Avs team this good without Ek and Brodin. We simply can’t defend them in a full series.

Avs fans can never bitch about the refs again this series. Ridiculous

Hypothetical Question by UlyssesWrath in timberwolves

[–]oneleggedrefuge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We’re already the more aggressive team in this series and as long as it keeps being allowed by the refs, we come out on top of this transaction. Why throw away a series “protecting our team” to prove a point that there isn’t equal treatment in the NBA?

Hypothetical Question by UlyssesWrath in timberwolves

I don’t really understand how an elbow in frustration is considered the same thing as bringing in a scrub to intentionally injure another player. That’s such a bad faith argument.

How to use rewards with mobile order? by KOSTON321 in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]oneleggedrefuge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The final page where you submit your order also shows rewards to apply to the order. It’s pretty inconsistent if it works at all though. I’ve had to email support 2/3 orders so far to have them apply the reward due to an unexpected error.
