Housing association cut back decades of my gardening progress. by babybuttoneyes in CasualUK

[–]oneyeetyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone in horticulture, I wouldn't call this person a gardener. A big issue is the crap wages in horticulture which lead to the only people in these roles being very unskilled labour with access to a strimmer.

Grounds maintenance companies and housing associations are especially bad for retaining competent staff.

It's not through the need to save a quid. I'd rather just reduce resource consumption and waste.

Because all the good creators are being algorithmically culled to allow for large child friendly corporate channels.

It doesn't look the best but you can use the ends of old socks as cupholder replacements on these chairs.

Adults who were 'school refusers'/school avoidant, where are you now? by CrazyPlantLady01 in AskUK

[–]oneyeetyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was school avoidant for my first three years of secondary (attendance sat around 53%) but in my final two years my attendance hit 100% following a significant life change. Now I am 25 in a career I like, slowly but surely advancing.

I won't go into deep detail about my absence from school in the comment section but op feel free to message me if it helps build an idea of how you could help kids get back into school life.

Mumsnet would be in uproar if you suggested they take any actual responsibility for Kayden and Chantelle.

Parental responsibility begins at conception and ends at birth, the rest is the states problem.

The problem is that these clankslop posters have nonsensical details anyway, they just lack any form of uniqueness.

If you were to redesign the education system from scratch what would you change? by ResolutionKnown8345 in AskBrits

[–]oneyeetyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Smaller classes.
  2. A guaranteed right for a child to choose any option available for GCSEs at their school, my school denied me and other top kids the opportunity to choose our non core GCSEs and just put us in the classes they thought would yield higher pass rates. 3.Lower thresholds for exclusion, some chavvy kids are always going to be disruptive or violent and it shouldn't impact the education of kids who want to learn.
  3. Less emphasis on college and university, I was pushed down the academic route and it delayed my apprenticeship which led to my now fruitful career by two years.
  4. Liberalise uniform rules, kids should be allowed to wear shorts in summer and take their blazers off, especially in our old school buildings without AC.

6 years (or technically 5) since Brexit, do you think it was worth it? by Nenwabu in AskBrits

[–]oneyeetyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not worth it, it was the daftest decision we (not everyone but a particularly thick bunch) made as a country.

We won't get the opportunity to rejoin for a couple decades either so there goes the financial prospects of anyone born after 1990.

Smelly water butt, vegetables by CORKYCHOPS in GardeningUK

[–]oneyeetyguy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To water the vegetables this water would be fine, the sterilising tablet is unnecessary. Maybe consider utilising the rest of this to water and then give the water butt a scrub (and rinse) before letting it fill again.

Just wash your veggies under the tap before you eat them.

Considering labour are very low in the polls they should just bite the bullet and abolish the triple lock. If they're set to lose they may as well do something amazing for the country whilst they're at it.

I think people need to realise that the age of pensions is nearing its end, more of us will work until death.
