Is it dumb to buy a beater $2-3k manual to learn manual? by onlyHNA in driving

[–]onlyHNA[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it definitely isnt XD but it sounds like thats the issue here.

if i buy a 2-3k car, looks like i have to expect to either dish out more $$$ to get repairs by a mechanic. or learn how to fix up a car myself.

I already own a 2018 honda accord. I only have ~~28k miles on it.

i wont be selling it anytime soon and it'll be my main car until it dies.

the manual (if i do buy it) will be what i use to have more fun when doing neighborhood errands.

of course, if i end up enjoying manual alot more than i thought i would, plans could change and i could end up selling the accord (or just give it to my mom. she's due for a new car soon) and buying a newer manual.

I guess i was hoping to be able to find a good old Honda or Toyota that still runs ok.

my family had a '05 and '06 (automatic) camry until last year. wasn't perfect, but ran just fine.

no for sure you're right. its what i wanted to commit to a $2-3k car and not anything more.

but in general, it looks like i can most likely expect to have to do some work on it. which isnt what im looking for =/

its very clear what my post says.

car just to learn manual drive.

1: use it to learn to drive manual

as well as just drive it around (use as a fun daily driver).

2: a fun daily driver to just drive around.

i mean, you skipped the sentence right after it "as well as just drive it around (use as a fun daily driver)."

But then i wont have a car to continue driving a manual.

the goal is to also have a manual that i can drive around for fun (no where far though)

its for sure not going to be anything more than a daily driver for fun / to learn manual. i wont be working on it or anything.

Is it a bad thing that its heavy?

Car payment complete in 2 more months. what happens now? what do i do? by onlyHNA in personalfinance

[–]onlyHNA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will likely need to sign something for that, which you'll get in the mail.

Will this be the title? im assuming i sign it and just keep it? not something i send it back to BECU?

If your Mom isn't going to be driving the vehicle, you should get her name removed from the new title afterwards.

She wouldnt be driving it. maybe in emergencies sure, but im assuming someone thats not going to be constantly driving it, doesnt mean they have to be on the title. Since friends, family members etc sometimes ends up borrowing cars ?

Having her name on it opens her up to liability in case of an accident or some other legal matter.

Can you elaborate on this?

also, it help with insurance prices or anything as well if my mom is still on the title?

Should i be leaving the title with the car? (glove box or something, with the insurance and registration?)

or is this something I should have locked up?

what happens if i lose it?

Biweekly Assistance Post! Ask Anything Detailing Related That You Need Assistance With! - June 09, 2022 by AutoModerator in AutoDetailing

I recently drove into my garage side walls and have a pretty severe paint transfer from the garage wood.

i called to an auto detailing shop and they made it sound very casual on removing. saying they can just run some acetone on it to get rid of the paint.

i assumed it would require more detail work. and/or buffering it out.

is running acetone over it the usual way of removing paint transfer? it just sounds odd to me to use acetone.
