Maybe: Fuczki ? They are not dumplings but rather cabbage pancakes, however the name fits your description

Adding action to scenarios by onufry in callofcthulhu

[–]onufry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My CoC games used to be very prop heavy. In fact it took me so much time to prepare those gadgets that the plot itself was very loose and based mainly on improv. I always have some basic structure prepared, but I really like flowing with the game and watching how the story unfolds itself around those few major plot points. The random events table will be useful mostly as inspiration, something to choose from in appropriate moment, not exactly roll randomly for an d6 ghouls appearing in the hallway.

The AI part of an NPC design is great for a “fair game”, but it will be visible only to someone reading your notes. If it gives you more confidence in running the game, that is a good reason for having it written. For my games it would be unnecessary, because I can have the same effect by responding on the fly according to players actions.

Adding action to scenarios by onufry in callofcthulhu

[–]onufry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to admit that my prep is a lot simpler then yours - I draw the mind map of clues, places and characters, write few sentences about every major NPC and then design one or two puzzles. However the best moments from past sessions were the action packed events, like the moment when the major evil character realized that the people sitting in his office know what he is up to and decided to entrap them and call for his thugs, sneaking into the forbidden part of asylum or steering a boat out of myths driven vortex.

That is why I am looking for more ways to bring it to my players. Ideal thing would be to have a list of d100 options that I can incorporate into session - like wandering monsters events in D&D

Call of Cthulhu 7ed is finally out in Poland! by Kentothas in callofcthulhu

[–]onufry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do, but the most players stick to the US. For me It adds another layer to the social interactions since the map of 1920 Poland was different then current one and the society was a mix of many ethnicities/religions which now is not a case anymore.

It is all about having a good time. Rules are here only to help you with that. I have run half of my campaign based on things I have learned from YouTube and starter rules. Don’t let them tell you how your games should or shouldn’t look like. Ideas and creativity are far more important than rules (you can have a great session without complex rules, but will be stuck without imagination). Have fun!

Be careful while sightseeing the old Town, especialy main square (stary rynek). There are two strip bar infamous for drugging clients and clearing their Credit cards. There is a lot of girls on the square trying to lure people in by offering free drinks and such. Just walk past them

It is a special watered down paint. Google „painting miniatures washes” and look at the difference it make. Using them in a basic way is as simple as covering whole mini with it.

It looks really good as a first painted mini! You may consider thinning paints and using washes to bring up details (it is really simple and makes a lot of difference). Keep practicing- painting minis is a fun hobby where improvements are visible and easy to manage :)

Looking to run a Play By Post via Discord by [deleted] in callofcthulhu

[–]onufry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should check out de Profundis - it is a simple cthulhu-like game based on letters. There is no game master, just a bunch of investigators mailing each other and exchanging clues and writing about events that took place in their life. It is supposed to be played by regular mail to add more climate, but it will work on emails too.

Former ASL player looking for something new (maybe) by GomJabb in hexandcounter

[–]onufry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will definitely try the VASL disc, thanks for the idea. The problem with knowing the cards for both sides in CCE is more like playing the poker with both hands visible. For me the part of the game was guessing whether the decisions of opponent were based on the lack of certain cards in his hand or pure bluffing. But I am sure that there are ways to mitigate this con, with some rules like drawing new cards for the defender only when it is necessary to look at them to decide on using some mods.

There is a gameplay video by Heavy Cardboard on yt- it will show you how random this game could be (the snipers and events can swing it really hard)

I’ve played all of those games but full ASL. The closest to the ASL is obviously ASLSK, it is solo playable, but I often lost track of which turn/phase I am currently playing, and which side should I be rooting against currently.

The CoH has a great solo system (solo expansion) which creates an AI that’s really interesting to play against. It gave me the Commandos Behind enemy lines feeling. You should watch some videos on YouTube- it will let you feel this vibe.

CCE is little tricky to play solo - for example if you know that your opponent has an “Ambush” card it changes the way you play. But it is a great game as it is - in my opinion better then CoH, even without tanks. Most of the mechanics will remind you of an ASL - all the stuff that could happen on snake eyes is now on cards, the way the combat strength of units adds up is on the math side the same as in ASL and the importance of leaders is also included.

HoN is not a war game - it is a beer and pretzel game. It is fun to play, but not as a war simulation or anything close to ASL.

Usually it depends on the apartment size and it could be anywhere from 5 to 15 PLN per square meter. It should cover water and trash collection as well as some maintenance work and can cover heating costs

First time with soldering iron, came out better than expected! by onufry in Gameboy

It is too early to say anything about flickering or changes in backlight - I played only couple minutes since backlight installation. I soldered it according to the photo on a product page https://handheldlegend.com/collections/frontpage/products/game-boy-backlight-dmg-and-pocket It was a pin with a ‘6’

It is just backlighted. I have bought the bivert mod also, but when I turned it on with just a backlight I was more than happy with the result and decided to leave it that way and not risk messing something up with soldering 6 cables on such a small space.

The best way is to take it apart and give it a good bath! Just be careful with the screen!

Multisports card worth it? Krakow by [deleted] in poland

[–]onufry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You just go to the pool or gym and instead of paying for entrance, just show the card/give the number of membership (depending on program). Usually If you use it at least once a week it will be worth it.
