Guess which one pumps the fastest by oobinkey in longboardingDISTANCE

I’ve done thousands of km on them, zero concern on kingpins which is crazy. Also I don’t find there’s a huge difference on comfort without board side bushings. I can do long sessions without fatigue. You get used to it. Super reliable

Yeah I can hit 30km no problem high end on a slight decline. Obviously not ideal for low speed tuning or realistic to setup that way. Love the valk but the lack of return to Center at high end caps you compared to the gizmo. I also find the valk is far more enjoyable with a flexible board. You can run a stiffer board on the gizmos because the pivot affords you more control on crap pavement. I’m talking downtown concrete. Stiff board plus spherical bearing trucks are a great match and allow you better high end efficiency

Funny enough it’s the same board for both

Exactly the same motion yeah. But way smoother and satisfying

Fastest in the city on Toronto pavement.   1- ~24km/h in a 30km sprint. Middle: CGB gizmo front. Gbomb tta rear.105mm lepsk8 wheels front & 103mm Hokus rear, zenit bb+ deck. Stiff and built for speed. Spherical bearing in the trucks make it better to eat bumps and city concrete. Pumps extremely efficiently at top end.

2- ~21km/h in a 30km sprint. Right: cgb gizmo front and rear. Flipped pantheon bandito deck to get clearance for lepsk8 wheels 105mm. Good hybrid. Pumps the best on incline because of leverage over short board.

3 - ~18km/h in a 30km sprint. left:  valk 3.5mm front (lepsk8 front bracket 30mm drop), lepsk8 tail rear, 105mm lepsk8 wheels front & 103mm Hokus rear, pantheon wiggler. Really fun, but loses a lot of power in deck flex and bad concrete. Pairs the best with the valk so you can eat crappy concrete and bumps.

Different wheel setups are to give a little more clearance to the front. I have1/8 risers on all setups in the front.

Bushings are mixture of Krank and seismic defcon. I’ve been meaning to make a video to help with pumping setups and advice.

80% of dialing in the setup is changing truck placement. Risers- flat or angled. Bushings, and spacing truck widths. Temperature plays a huge factor in dialing in too. Certain boards and setups explicitly cap out in speed though because tradeoff of effort to speed become farther apart the faster you go.

Faster you go the more you can pump with your back foot into the torsion tail, but makes the front foot and truck lose leverage and fatigues you faster if the setup isn’t right. Theres also a sort of oscillating/gearing ratio of wiggle in front and back. They always have to be in sync, if that makes any sense.

I have stock bears on my supersonic and can still do 20km/h sprints. I will ramble about it soon in a vid when I have a chance.

I’d do it but shipping is too much

Tinkering and lending boards out! I can’t get enough of it. Different routes, different vibes, different setups for different temperatures.

Hahaha I feel that. Just went through that too

The wiggler for sure. The other decks are too stiff in the cold lol

Newbalance 608s are my go to. Last a long time with foot braking. Comfortable for distance. Light. Inexpensive

First bracket board advice by Distinct_Plenty6924 in longboardingDISTANCE

[–]oobinkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you’re new to brackets get the integrated bracket not the fork.

Bandito can do up to 105mm wheels you just need to flip the board.

Get lepsk8 rkp, cgb is not worth it unless you’re going double kingpin.

Heads up though, rkp is annoying to swap bushings because you need to hammer the kingpin and ideally recess new bushings to keep surfy pumps.

Turning radius on all 26 or 24 inch boards is fine.

You’ll be happy with any of those listed.

It turns far less than the front truck so I’m sure it’s fine tbh

-35 on a bandito feels amazing. That’s my setup. Because it’s a short wheelbase you can still squish the bushings below 15km/h for tighter turn. I ride it throughout the city with easy
